Good point, but I think the expectation ship has already sailed to glory land---taking most of us with it.
Yep, this place is notorious for building up expectations so high that failure is the only option.

That's the best thing. We have enough depth where he can develop at a normal pace for a newcomer. In Pastner's 2nd year we had to throw all of those freshmen out there at the same time.
The other good thing is that these guys will make each other better by practicing against each other.

Yep, expecting to beat a top 25 team and advance past the first round in the tournament is building up expectations so high that failure is the only option.

There is always the chance he could test that theory this season.

These are both excellent points. We do a terrible job around here managing expectations.
I actually hope for great things this year, but refuse to expect them. Too much potential to be disappointed.
In my opinion (and mine alone, form your own at your leisure), a season spent in the top 25 and a 5 seed or higher feels like a rational expectation. Being a fringe top 25 team and a upper half seed would be a disappointment, but not a failure. Anything less and I would say we underachieved.
If I had to guess, I'd say CUSA reg/post season champs, season spent around the 13-22 range of the rankings, a 4-6 seed and at least one win in the dance, sweet 16 if we get a good draw and little lucky (aka no SLU like plodders). Lower would suck, but is certainly not a failure. Higher is certainly on the table. I'd guess this team's ceiling (again a guess) is a 3 seed and crashing the elite 8. That would be an overachievement in my mind.

Its plan and simple... If the Tigers rebound 40 Rebounds per game, plus play defense, shoot and share the ball as last year this is a final 4 team.. If they rebound like the last 3 years, wellllllllllll.....

I'd like to see how the new guys play defense and how well they can run the offense before I make a decision on my starters.

He shoots the ball from below his chin. He also "flicks" the ball and doesn't follow through with his shots giving the ball a lower arc. This can cause long rebounds on misses and eliminates the "shooters roll".
Because his release is so quick on his jump shots, he will probably be able to avoid getting his shot blocked. His primary means of scoring should be to take the ball to the hole.

I was in Punta Cana and couldn't go to madness, but this is true? Geron shoots the ball from BELOW his chin??? Man, that's not good, I don't care how high you jump. You sure you don't mean just below his eyes or something like that? Nobody shoots the ball from below their chin unless they're in 5th grade and they aren't strong enough to flip it with their wrist from over their head. I'm not saying you're wrong about his stroke, but nobody is going to be a potential NBA player with that habit. The only NBA guy I can remember shooting it close to that unorthodox and being pretty darn good was Andrew Toney for the Philly 76ers.......of course, that gives away that I'm old.

Sign me up on starting GJ and Shaq.
Heck, I'd start an all non Memphis squad just to grab some of their attentions...
Practice hard, play hard else go home. Period.
