But, when your education and life experience ends at Atlanta, I dont call that a well rounded education, just like I wouldnt call someone "well read" for reading the Harry Potter series. Ga State being a commuter school is obvious.

Does the above explain it Tuscon?

He thinks GSU is the only school I went to and that my life experience starts and ends inside 285, both quite wrong - but I wouldn't expect more.

It does explain it better. I read that a bit more offensively than it was. Atlanta is an International city though. For him to assume that you're not an extremely diverse individual just because you've been in the Metro Atlanta area for a long time is ignorant in and of itself.

Nope. Not at all. I live in an extremely diverse city. That makes me a bit more open minded. The world traveler part comes from, you know, traveling. Just because I've lived in the same city for most of my life doesn't mean I don't get out much.

Tuscon, you are arguing with someone who thinks our horizons would have been broadened by going to school in Statesboro or Boone. 01-wingedeagle

Oh, youre so full of crap. Typical urban dweller arrogance. "I live in a big city, everyone else is a hick." Whats more diverse than Atlanta? Just about any military town in America.

You say youre more open minded because diverse people live in your city? Try living in THEIR cities, THEIR countries.

I don't understand the insulting dialouge from several Appy fans. So what if there are several posters that don't think that you're the best fit. Rather than attacking someone personally (which shows me your argument is weak), attack their points.
When you came on to the SBC message board, did you just assume that everyone would welcome you with open arms?

I am gonna ask that we get this back on track here. Discsussing what city you live in and how that relates to your perception of possibble additions isnt really relevant.

Clearly you haven't spent much time in Atlanta. Not aware of too many military towns with thriving LBGT communities.

....and if THEY are living in MY city, am I not living in THEIR city?

Still trying to figure out what great diversity I missed out on by not living in Statesboro or Boone. I know the Boro is like the Meth/Herpes capital of the South, so I guess I missed out on that - what is Boone the capital of? Ladder-like family trees and "make him squeal like a pig" contests?

Are you crazy? I didn't call anyone a hick. Stop putting words in my mouth. I don't know much about military towns, so I can't comment. But saying that living in Atlanta means you're not well rounded is crazy. I live in Atlanta and have a chance to interact with people of many cultures. I also like to travel and go to THEIR cities and THEIR countries. What's your deal?

Nothing like openmindedness coming out of Atlanta apparently.

In other news, Georgia Southern is prepping for FBS. Good job Georgia Southern.

Dude you're way off base. You're the one making assumptions, generalizations and casting insults.

You called Atlanta a cesspool.

You said he couldn't be well rounded since he's lived in one city most of his life.

You said all city folk think they're more evolved and people who don't live in cities are hicks.

He didn't say any of that. He said he lives in a diverse city, he said he's traveled the world. He made no insults about you, where your from, or people who don't live in big cities. You projected all that onto him. For someone complaint about generalizing, you sure are doing a lot of it yourself.

Apparently I am unqualified to criticize his comparing the affections that tourists have for Boone to those that the have for Hawaii, simply because I've lived in Metro Atlanta all my life.

Yep, that's really it......

This is the same treatment Charlotte fans got from App St fans. They're pi$$ed (probably rightfully so) that everything seems to revolve around large markets now. Typical banter started with legitimate arguments citing program successes but quickly devolved into name calling, insulting the opposing fan's city, etc., etc., etc. ECU fans went through the same cycle with large market fans that moved ahead of us when we were more deserving.

The REAL ISSUE is that a myopic perspective on FCS vs FBS doomed App State. They waited way too long to even pretend they were serious. Now they're depending on one conference to call them up as they no longer have the option of moving up on their own AND they have no market. It's a pretty crappy situation App State & GA Southern are in right now.

I've said it several times now, they deserved a move up much more so than Charlotte, however "deserved" has got nothing to do with it.

And Glassonion you did compare a trip to Boone to a Hawaiian Honeymoon. Panthersville (surprisingly) responded with the most PC answer in message board history.

To many people, big cities ARE cesspools. I take it you know there are more murders in Atlanta on average than there are scholarships on an FBS team? There are entire tables of eye opening stats just like that one.

At least my opinions are based on things I know. Pantherville's opinions are based on his own, extensive experience, oh wait...

That and reading my comparison wrongly, even after its been discussed now in 3 separate posts.

Its quite a thing to be an expert on places he's never been too. I had no idea Boone was not a tourist destination. I'll have to let the local industry know, so they dont sit around waiting for people that will never show.

I had no idea Boone was not a tourist destination. I'll have to let the local industry know, so they dont sit around waiting for people that will never show.

So this "many people" argument is based on what you "know"? Did you ask "many people" about their opinion of Atlanta as a cesspool?

I would say that about New Orleans, because I actually have heard "many people" use that term to describe that town, including myself. However, I've not heard it used by anyone who I know has spent much time here to describe Atlanta.

I perfectly understood what you said about Boone and Hawaii, and it was still ridiculous. You were stating that enough people have a fondness for Boone as a tourist destination that it is a "connection" (as I had earlier defined the term) that would impact viewership of televised Appy games.

Such an assertion is preposterous.

You also compared the fondness these tourists have toward Boone to how honeymooners feel about Hawaii. That assertion is also preposterous.

Sure, Boone gets tourists. But if you think it is a tourist destination to the degree countless of other mountain towns are, you would be very mistaken.
