The next great idea Progressives will be pushing
Quote:"Any form of insult is from now on [is] punishable, whether it be racist, homophobic or otherwise," Brussels Mayor Freddy Thielemans' spokesperson quoted him as saying, according to the Telegraph.
Fines will range between 75 and 250 euros for using offensive language or sexually harassing someone in public, officials said.
Mayor Thielemans said the new fines encourage officers to take action over offensive public behavior that previously went ignored because it was never prosecuted. Thielemans said police officers "had little incentive to take any action over such incidents."
In June, Middleborough, Mass., passed a measure that slaps people caught cursing in public with a $20 fine.

Considering that the list of racist code words grows by the minute, I'm sure libs will see this as a great opportunity for revenue.

Speaking of Progressives and their "next big idea"... don't forget "multiple parents" (i.e., more than 2) which is being debated in California even now.

The next idea that I'd push as a Progressive is to get Clinton back in the WH, or someone like him. Damn, I wish he could be re-elected...

Anti-polygamy law is being contested in court in Brazil
Canada already is prosecuting people for "insults".

Who decides what's racist or homophobic? Can a black man still use the N word or is that infraction only limited to whites and Hispanics? What about all those commercials on TV where the woman is the smart person and the man portrays the idiot? Offensive to men? Wouldn't every word uttered by Jesse jackson and Al Sharpton be offensive to the group they're hammering that day since not everyone in that group would be guilty of whatever they're bitching about?

You ask questions based on logic, progressives go on feelings.
"Do you feel insulted?" That's all that has to happen. Unless you're a white male, then you deserved it.

Both houses of the California Assembly have now passed SB 1476, under terms of which state courts may declare that children have "more than two natural or adoptive parents". It is up to Gov. Jerry Brown to sign or veto the legislation by September 30.

Well, that makes it easy for the state to be declared a parent for any/all children. Then they can do what they want with children. And likely enough, you won't even be able to move away w/o an Amber Alert being posted and you being cited for kidnapping.
Terrifying really.

Until someone is prosecuted and it holds up, that's a silly statement.

Precedents in your native Canada suggest it's not so silly.

Yep.
If you look carefully at demographic trends over the past 20-30 years, it's fairly obvious that conservatives from around the US were choosing to not move to California, but at this point I think you will see non-"Progressive" parents of minor-age children begin to move out of the state in noticeable numbers. The political/legal climate is getting to be -- not quite yet, but getting to be -- just too dangerous for people who dissent from the new regime.
