RE: I think North Texas only loses at Louisiana-Monroe this season.
I don't think we go 7-1 in the Belt but we were not a bad team last year. We won 5 games including a game over Indiana and 4 Sun Belt wins. And we did that breaking in a new coach and a new QB. The one thing that NT has lacked since it's 2001-2004 run was a QB. We have one now - if he stays healthy, we could win the conference... I truly believe that. He got beat up pretty good last year and didn't have much time to set up the offense. Our season is going to come down to the QB staying healthy and the line protecting the signal caller. We have a very favorable schedule this year, most of the tougher Belt games are at home and and we play USA instead of FIU. I think that 7-1 will be tough, but if we do achieve that mark - the loss will be to ASU or UL... not ULM.

that's all fine and dandy WeatherfordMeanGreen, but none of that insures UNT will become a powerhouse that Sun Belt teams can't beat. Let's just wait and see how things pan out for North Texas in the new C-USA before you make assurences that your program will dominate everyone.

Where have "I" said that we will dominate anything? Hint: I haven't .

And....quite frankly, I think after we play our entire CUSA football schedule that schools from conferences with ranked teams or teams close to being ranked will probably be filling out the rest of our future football schedule. We cannot get rankings unless we beat ranked teams, right? CUSA finished the season with 2 Top 25 ranked teams last Fall. Just sayin'...

Well excuuuse me, all of you UNT fans look alike to me. 03-lmfao

frankly, since yall got the C-USA invite, many within the Mean Green fanbase have gotten the big head. If yall had been dominating the Sun Belt I wouldnt have any issues with it, but that just isn't the case.

RE: I think North Texas only loses at Louisiana-Monroe this season.
There are 5-6 teams this year that could win the SBC and UNT is one of them.

I think UNT is a program on the rise and wish them well in CUSA, but they would never be more than a middle of the pack SBC program.

I think they have a better opportunity to grow their program in CUSA, simply because it resonates better the media in Texas, and thus the recruits in Texas.

Quote of the year right here, guys.

Thanks, meant to say program, and corrected it.

I did have an opportunity to learn more about some SBC football programs this past week from an ASU source, and while I have told them while I have no real interest in SBC football going forward, I am impressed with a lot of the programs, and hope they all find a home that their fans will be proud of, which of course will not be in the SBC.

If that is the quote of the year then there seems to be a serious intellectual void over here.

Still...wouldn't be saying much to say a middle of the pack SBC team could actually win the SBC, but if saying that makes you feel better about your school's situation then.....so be it.

Funny how with many school (like all of our schools) and who are not perennial Top 10 recruiting schools (like none of our schools) can go into winning and losing cycles, though. Your school is in a winning cycle now? Get ready for the other because it will come in due time.

And shall we talk basketball programs, too?

GMG!

We had been.. got bored with that and then Troy started doing and seems to have gotten bored with it too.

I'm going to make up for the guy who thinks we'll dominate the world and say that I think we've already begun the 180deg turn with our new coach and stadium, but we are far from dominating everyone anytime soon. But, I like the enthusiasm and this place would be boring with everyone predicting 6-6 seasons for everyone else. We'll be better than we have during the Dodge years, and it's about damn time. Football is too big in Texas and UNT is too big of a school to suck at football for as long as it has.

Excuse me? You need to take your bs attitude about OUR Conference elsewhere, because we don't appreciate the backhanded comments you are throwing around in our house. 05-nono

We have worked very hard for more than a decade to turn the Sun Belt Conference in to a respetable FBS football league and many of us take pride in all we have accomplished together. I wouldn't expect an outsider to understand that, but when you are on our turf you should know enough to be respectful.

Thanks. We've taken our lumps being the youngest FBS Conference and it has given us a poor rep, but things are changing. We now have several noteworthy programs that are helping our prestige. Troy, stAte, WKU, Louisiana, and MTSU are all solid teams. No non-AQ league starts off as a respected Conference right from the beginning, there is a building process involved. We have been going through ours and now things are filling out nicely for the Belt.

Troy and MTSU cannot be considered as current noteworthy programs until they can bounce back from recent dismal seasons.05-nono Currently Arkansas State, ULL and WKU are the top dogs in the upcoming "New Sun Belt".

one bad season does not mean Troy is fallen from grace. We are the current top dawg of the Belt, regardless of how you want to spin it MG61.

UNT did not have a solid team after winning 3 games or 2 in any season. And I think I have plenty room to tell you about that...
