Who will be the first C-USA victim?
We are gonna get stomped for a while, but we will eventually beat that first conference team. Who would it be?
I really hope it's El Paso, but that's not realistic right now. I'm putting my money on Rice. They are good, and they had a losing record last season, but against a tough OOC schedule. Yet, they are so close that we hopefully travel well and take away home advantage. Note, I don't think it will happen this year, rather, the next time we meet.

We'll get our first C-USA win before we even join the conference when we wreck Rice's Centennial Celebration this year.

Haha, bold statements coming out of your kisser Darrell, hope you are right. If it does happen, remind me to get you an overpriced beer at the dome this season.

I'd love to beat Rice next season, just to put a target on our back in 2013.
That said, my money is on Tulane or Rice being our first W in c-USA.

I'd go with Rice but I'd love to whoop on some UTEP.

Very slight chance that we could beat Rice this year but I think our first win against a C-USA opponent will be UNT!

I know the next few years will be tough, but I hope we beat every Texas team we face, in conference and out of conference. I will take particular delight in curb stomping TSU-SM, UNT and UTEP.

You and I both. But realistically, we need about 5 years before we even smell a competitive season. UNT will be the hardest out of the 3. El Paso is a stale team that commands no authority over the lower FBS ranks. TSUSM, well, we are gonna have a field day on them. They will most def beat us this year, hopefully not too bad. But in the near future, teachers college will be our b*tch. They are pumping sunshine up their butts about how the slumbelt is the same as CUSA. The reality is opposite, and even if it was the same, the perception is different. And perception, makes a huge difference on recruits.

txst fans are saying whatever needs to be said to make themselves feel better about being in the Sunbelt lol
I was curious and went to their facebook page during the sunbelt announcement to see how they felt. Well, a lot of fans on their page were pissed and saying they wanted a refund on their season tickets, etc. I think they are going to have a hard time filling up that new stadium with a sunbelt schedule for the same reason UNT had trouble filling up theirs...no one knows the teams they'll be playing and they'll have no in-state rival. We'll at least have UTEP, UNT, and Rice instate on our schedule.
They signed a lot of good talent this year because players were expecting a WAC schedule. I think they'll have a harder time bringing in better players once these kids see they're going to the Sunbelt. Like Yankee Runner said, perception is everything.
