RE: Would Notre Dame Consider a Big East Scheduling Agreement
The net result is that playing games in the Meadowlands versus Notre Dame, even splitting the gate evenly, is still a win for Syracuse, Rutgers and/or UConn. What's the issue?

So far the only issue is that Syracuse will pay a little extra for travel, which their guarantee covers. If Syracuse is willing to pay the expense, then there is no problem. All three schools want coverage in NYC, where all three schools have numerous grads and Syracuse draws a lot of regular students from NYC/LI. Presumably, UConn and Rutgers, draw regular students from there, too.

UConn's politicians killed their deal, but it is probably workable now. Rutgers politicians killed their deal but it is probably workable now. The Meadowlands wants college games in their stadium. Why not give them a call? Syracuse is only there every other year, that leaves at least one open date each year for the taking. If either school, or any other, can get a better deal, Congratulations! These are made for TV deal and guarantee a name opponent.

Go for it, don't go for it, but stop whining.

For some reason I see ND ending up in the B12 one day....the B12 would take them all sports minus football (like they are in the BE now) esp if they think it will get them one step closer to getting them for fb one day. I can see this going down for sure.

That would be the last place ND would end up...as no way would they join a mostly Texas & Oklahoma based Conf...when the largest alumni areas (and donors) of their school are Chicago and the Northeast.

Only reason ND would even talk to the Big 12 is to get others to act (i.e. they WANT something extra from say NBC or Big East, etc....).

ND has zero need to join a football conf...as they would easily give up $5 Million per year if it meant they could control their own TV Network, their own Schedule.

ND Alums would fall on their face if those in charge put ND into a Texas/Oklahoma based conf.

I totally agree with Knightlight.

The only place those rumors exist and where they began is the WVU Scout Big 12 board.

There was a post by some "insider" and a link to some tweets by Greg Swaim.

That set off a frenzy of anti-ND posts in multiple threads by WVU fans.

It is kind of funny. They bring up the idea, that sets them off and they go crazy about the idea.

That must be what schizophrenia is like. It is like a self generated and self contained frenzy over.....nothing....something they conjured up on their own.

There is absolutely no indication by any ND source that a full or partial Big 12 membership option is being considered.

As long as ND has access to any Post AQ World that can get them a shot @ the Title they are staying Independant.

1. They have the NBC Contract and even if NBC let's them go Fox, CBS, ABC/ESPN would sign them in a NY Minute @ a even larger $$$$.

2. If the BIG EAST stays as is the other sports will have access to the East Coast-(UConn, Rutgers, Providence, Temple, Villanova) and now to Texas & Florida as well with-(USF, UCF, Houston & SMU/Dallas Metroplex).

If you think about it right now they have the best of both worlds. They will always have USC, Stanford, Navy & Michigan on their schedule...play a Texas-(coming up) and if they decide to play a couple of BIG EAST Football schools they can play a USF-(even on the road @ Raymond James Stadium) or an SMU-(Jerry World), Houston-(Reliant Stadium).

Agree Terry. ND is staying in the BE until they join the ACC or the B-10. My guess at this time since they did approach the ACC for a BE type deal when Miami, BC , and VT left, would be that they would join the ACC over the B-10 and keep Michigan and USC on the schedule on a regular basis, and rotate Michigan St, Purdue, Stanford, Navy, and Pitt through the schedule as they see fit. My second guess and prediction is that this will all happen when we land a man on Pluto. 04-jawdrop 02-13-banana COGS 05-stirthepot 04-cheers

Oh, are you are talking about the guy who was busted as having four user names with the same IP address, when he pretended ot be a ND alum posting on the site, saying he "was hearing" the same things the dude was? The guy even posted PM's he was getting, only to have it discovered that he was basically sending the PM's to himself.

That's the guy that started a lot fo these rumors. 03-banghead

Oh, I know. It is crazy.

There are numerous anti-ND posts by WVU and other Big 12 fans caused by......nothing, themselves, their own rumors...
