South repped on the front page. Really cool to see.
Steele says the Jags should have one of the better RB, LB, and secondary units in the SB. Thoughts? Who currently is considered to have the best of those units?
Edit: If you click on the download link on his page, the pdf is huge and takes a while to download.

Checking some of these big sports guru guys over the last several years. Not much in depth thinking going on. Missed a lot of the top three often. Our coaches preseason picks are not much better.
Let the games begin. 87 days to UL kick off.

Really? I thought he was one of the more respected in that world.
His isn't the only one who has said as much about those units.
But go ahead and keep dumping instead of actually responding to the question.

stAte will have very good play at RB whether Dyer is eligible or not. It is amazing to be that USA is that solid at RB. Kendall Houston wlaked on at ASU and looked very average at best in practice before he left. He must have improved a lot.
Arkansas State will be among the best at QB, RB, WR and LB. QB and WR play should be the best in the league barring the unforeseen.

I wouldn't trade any of the Cajuns receivers for any of ASU's. Not one of the top 6 or 8. I like your QB, but I wouldn't trade either Gauthier or Broadway for him if I could.
Your guys are good, but so are ours. I suspect that a couple of other teams are happy with what they have, too. QB and WR are strengths in the Belt.

You wouldn't take Aplin? Homer.
You think you have 6 to 8 WRs that are better than Stockemer, Jarboe and Muse? Right.

That is downright dumb. Stockemer is a stud starter on any Sun Belt team.

Arkansas State's offense is equal to or better than what UL has to offer, which is still good, but let's not act like ULs offense is heads and tails better, its not.

Yeah, I dunno, but Houston has been a beast for us. Hits the hole hard, tough to bring down, gets a lot of yards after first contact. He's the "bruiser" back, and Baker (the UGA 4* transfer) is the speed. Getting Brandon Ross back this year too, who was a Memphis transfer, and is another powerful back. One problem is though that we will have a very green line this year. Some experience mixed in there, but that'll be something we pay close attention to.
Changing to a spread offense this year, so frankly, we have no clue how effective our passing game will be. Wasn't that great last year though.
Deep at LB with a lot of talent and a good amount of experience. VaTech transfer Jake Johnson anchors the LB, and will be a legitimate draft prospect.
Secondary is headed up by former 5* Alabama transfer BJ Scott. Brought in some good JUCOs this year too. I'd say of the three units rated high, our secondary is easily the most open to question. Havent faced offenses on a consistent basis like they will this year, and who knows if the JUCOs will live up to the hype. All I know is I'm ready for football.

Let me get this straight. You think the Cajuns have 4 WRs that would start ahead of Stockermer for stAte.
Is that correct?

I agree, ULL's offense and defense are not as great as their fans feel they are. This season coming up will show what's up.

i know frankie jackson is gonna light up some defenses this next year. also, if dyer sits and plays the next year. with the two of them i see a McFadden/Jones combo that as long as butterfield is on par with what we have seen from him so far will make for some record setting offenses.

RE: Phil Steele preview
ULL last year was a team who just had a lot of things go their way. But others have said there is not much actual in depth thinking when it comes to writers and the Sun Belt. No one actually takes the time to look at every scenario unless your team plays in the big six. And when it comes to fans everyone who preforms well is going to be a beast to a fan. But when you look at ineligible players, schedules, injuries, and other factors it's a different ball game.
That aside I like ASU this season.

No, I said I wouldn't trade them for him. Not the same thing. You telling me your whole receiver corps is better than Lawson?

Posting with emotion instead of using common sense. Is that a ULM trait?

Duhhh, really? Any team with a succesful season has things "go their way".... When Troy use to be good, there were several things "GO THEIR WAY"...
It will be a dogfight till the end. UL has stAte, FIU and Western at home.
I like our chances.
