I'm not going to malign the user who posted that rumor, because he may well have a source who has good connections and has been credible in the past. Nevertheless, I've had my own experience with well-placed sources who have given me credible information that did not turn out to be correct. Since almost anything is possible I wouldn't be stunned to see Big 12 expansion from those candidates, but I would certainly be surprised.

Anyone who thinks Tulane has any kind of market pull is ignoring reality. Get real. Tulane is a waste of time and effort...

If Tulane wanted to be a part of the big picture, they should have stayed in the SEC. Since they didn't, who cares?

Tulane is more likely to drop to FCS status than to join the Big 12 or any other "power conference".

yes it is; conferences are a voluntary association and can make any rules they want, as long as they're not against the law, and if a school like Notre Dame didn't want to accept the rules as it, they don't have to join

Amen, Bit. Hence, my statement that no such "ND can only join the Big 12 fully (and no other conference) if it joins the Big 12 as a partial member" provision would keep ND from jumping conferences if it suited them.

No legal impediment would exist.
