Yes, just a couple years ago ULL changed their founding date from 1900 to 1898, but they didn't open their doors to students until 1901.

No, they haven't. It's prohibited by state law and the UL System bylaws.

ULL is clearly the 2nd best school in Louisiana? By whom? Not USN&WR. Not Forbes. Not Washington Monthly. Not Kiplinger's. Not PayScale. Not C-USA. Not the UL System President. Not Governor Jindal. Not by peer university presidents. Not by graduation rates. Not by ACT scores. Not in football. Not in basketball.

They are officially ULL, but I have heard them referred to as "Louisiana" by a couple of different media outlets, including ESPN. If they want to be called Louisiana, I don't have a problem with it. State law can't prohibit an individual or a fan-base from calling their school by a certain nickname, nor can they prohibit them from putting "Louisiana" on all of their teams jerseys. I have met some good people from Lafayette and will respect their wishes. I really don't feel the need to bash them, especially now since we got the invite to CUSA. I say just have some class and leave them alone. It's perfectly ok to talk trash and pick at them about it, but no need to take it so seriously, like some fans do.

Tulane gave the legal right to University of Louisiana up when Tulane switched from a public university to a private university. Tulane does have an agreement with the govt that no school will be allowed to use the title and Tulane is still referred to as Tulane, University of Louisiana. ULL CANNOT and WILL NOT ever be the Univesity of Louisiana, no matter what they say.

That is the truth and this is the end of that discussion.

State law and the UL System bylaws prohibit ULL from putting "Louisiana" on their jerseys. The state hasn't decided to enforce the law yet, probably because they haven't noticed.

Tech fans, a small suggestion/advice:
Ignore and avoid petty discussions re ULL.
It don't matter anymo.
