In the closing UofL press conference for the season Pitino mentioned that he would like to play IU next season with both schools projected top 5 to start the year. He mentioned that he'll speak with Crean to see if IU is interested. That'd be a guaranteed primetime national game but we'll see if anything happens. The Hoosiers have shied away since the home & home series we played around a decade ago.

You may be correct. I still think Steve Fisher is trying to schedule "Big" out of conference to set a precedence of playing a tough out of conference schedule for SDSU basketball as they prepare for the move into the Big West Conference.

We'll play SDSU on a boat (really cool), a couple crappy teams to really not qualify for some made for TV thingie on ESPN in Nov or Dec, we might even play UK in the let's beat the crap out of the SEC challenge and finally we'll play every crappy little team in Upstate NY, former Boeheim assistant schools throughout the country and several upcoming midmajor programs looking for a paycheck and a chance to make ESPN highlights.

Finally, ESPN wonks will harp on that we haven't left NY State, NJ, New England, offshore CA until (insert some date in mid Jan).

The "ESPN Geography Factor" wherein, the State of New York includes the full territory Connecticut, New Jersey, parts of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Louisiana, Florida and any other place that ESPN believes should not qualify as an out of state game.
