I hate when fans say this. As someone that has played and coach I can tell you that's all BS......you don't take anyone lightly. When you lose to someone you should have beat you run with the public opinion and say cliches like "we took them too lightly" and so forth, but in reality you didn't. That's just the excuse you (as a team....players and coaches) use because the general public believes it.
A lot of people will disagree with me on this, but I'm not afraid to admit that the notion is all BS and even we as players and coaches use it as an excuse because it is easy to use and have people believe.

i don't know that our road got any easier but it certainly didn't get any harder. we blew CMU out of the gym when we played them earlier this year, and yes Toledo beat us but they almost choked away a big lead and won the game right at the end.
i'm not saying this quarter-final game will be a cakewalk for us, but i too like our chances. we'll see!

Can I throw in the other cliche when people say their (usually underperforming) team is the one "no one wants to face" in the tourney? No, you are exactly the team the better teams want to face. Really, you don't want to play Akron, Buffalo, Ohio, and KSU, the four best teams. You want to play the worst teams left.
If anyone has a team they are afraid to play, they will be ending their season very soon. Good teams aren't afraid of playing anyone. They look forward to it.

Not for the OU game(because we did win the first match up) but any other team from the east would look at UT As a good team... but always have that (we killed them the first time, all we have to do is play like that and we'll win thought in their head). When if a team was playing the #1 seed they would know they need their (A) game to win.

Rest of the games are very close.
This game was close too . Toledo scored the last 8 points.

Only close for a couple minutes really, but we managed to cough up a big lead, then get a run to pull away. Glad Mavunga wasn't 100%. Might well have been a different outcome.

I don't want to get you worried but Bowling Green also beat CMU pretty badly during the regular season but couldn't do it twice even when the game was at BG.
If CMU meets Ohio again it just might be a good game. But first CMU has to get by Toledo - a team that has improved more than CMU as the season moved along.

I think Ohio has a great shot at getting into the semi's. Toledo has really improved over last year, but they are still young and they don't have much of a bench......which is why they have blown double digit 2nd half leads and nearly blown others like this last game. Ohio's got a pretty good team too, IMO.

It was a close 1st half, then Toledo opened up a 16 point 2nd half lead before hitting a low and Miami got hot and took a one point lead. If you watched the whole game it seemed like Toledo was the much better team, but Miami didn't fold when behind and found a way to claw back into a game they should not have been in.

Most teams don't really care that much who wins a tournament game to be their next opponent. I was always too superstitious myself to admit that I wanted to play one team over another. I figured that if I chose one team that it would somehow jinx me and my team.
