He needs to be able to penetrate off the dribble just like the point guard and the two guard. Will doesn't fit that description. He's a four or five. Not to say he can't play out on the floor. Just that he doesn't have the quickness to dribble drive and take it to the rim, or pull up for a short jumper. But he can shoot the three if they can get him open for just a moment. He still hesitates a lot of time and looks to pass inside instead of taking the three point shot. That will change each year he's here. He's still just a sophomore and probably defers to Dre, Courtney, and even Chucky sometimes, even though Chucky is just a Sophomore, he's played a full year in our system prior to this year. Next year he won't be pulling the ball back so many times on possible three point shots. He'll have more freedom and confidence to let it fly.

No **** Sherlock. I understand that in many offenses the three is a guard. If Javes gets stronger and meaner, Gus comes back and plays well, what the **** you going to do with Will? There's no way you keep two good bigs like Gus or Javes on the bench if they can play. Then you play Will at the 3. No team in the Belt, and not many in college ball will be able to match up with us size wise. Can you imagine starting three 6-10" guys. Some coaches call the 3 spot the swing-man. No reason Will can't play that.

He could probably play the point if he asked to. I imagine he's like that 1000 pound gorilla. The coaches would probably let him play anywhere he wants.

I usually think of the 3 spot as the small forward. A little more experience dribbling the ball and he can become that.

Dennis scott was never fast but he could shot the ball and because of that he could draw you to him with shot fakes, then drive around you, thus creating the shot off the glass.

That is different then posting up and fading away. That requires the player to get on the box and get the ball passed to him.

Creating a shot from the triple threat position is where the kid will progress to. He will learn to pull the defender to him with shot fakes and push the defender away with ball fakes and the jab step. Then, like dennis scott, you just have to get you body of the defenders body to get around.

The kid is bird like and he is going to figure it out.
