I don't like it because all the evidence suggests that Memphis will take from the Big East more than it gives. Which is exactly why Memphis fans like yourself are jubilant.

er, do you seriously think that SEC schools like Tennessee, Arkansas, Alabama, and LSU aren't aware of the talent in Mississippi?

Alabama is about 30 miles from the Mississippi border, LSU is about 40 miles from the Mississippi border. All those powerful SEC schools are very close by geographically and recruit their regularly.

How Memphis is going to recruit effectively in that environment is beyond me.

Ugh....there are 2 tiers of recruiting in the South. There is who Alabama, LSU, Auburn, and Georgia want and then there is everyone else. No one is recruiting the tier of those schools.

However, the 50 other FBS caliber players that come out of that state every year are basically between Ole Miss, MSU, USM, and Memphis for the most part with battles against Arkansas on occasion.

Tennessee doesn't even recruit Mississippi. They have exactly ZERO players from the state. Why? It's partly because the Dooley staff is a joke and partly because Knoxville is 400 miles from the closest border.

What does that have to do with the Big East? Our venues will be among the best when we enter the league.

I, personally, have not once said anything about any Big East program being "scared" of us. All I've done is say that we aren't as bad off as you think in terms of facilities, recruiting base, and money.

We aren't far removed from 5 bowls in 7 years and drawing 56k for conference games.
