I'd have Bass ahead of Cotton as well.

I still think that settle will be put on RS but I made the change.

Changing Pegram to Center would give Geger another year of developing while keeping Volk at LG which also opens the RG for Battaglia maybe.

With the whole 5-7 freshman starting comment by Doeren I don't think there is any way that Cotton doesn't play but I think we all agree that he would be expected to be in the 2 deeps.

Settle will not be put on redshirt. Only if he has an injury in the spring or fall camps.

Even if he is 4th in the depth chart?

So who's #3 on your depth chart? Is it Bowers or is it Settle?

Bowers has a big upside, but he's been away from the field for a LONG time. Hard to tell how that will work out.

If he's 4th on the depth chart, he will be playing special teams.

We carried five RBs on the roster in 2011.

There's more to special teams then kick returning.

I think Bowers will end up in the top #3 after summer ball. I will keep Settle in the top #3 for now until it changes.

If he is the best non returning guy on special teams and if I were the coach I wouldn't think that is worth burning a seasons of eligibility.

I think Bass will be starting too. He did nothing but improve throughout the season and looked really good in the MCC. If possible I think it'd be best if we could redshirt Cotton and then have him start after Clark is gone...I doubt that will happen though.

RE: Which freshmen will play this fall?
I have Bass starting too.....havent seen anything more of a snapshot of cotton so I cant speculate too much but I would be surprised if he doesnt see the field this year....(I am cautiosly optomistic with Clark and Butler returning....but I would be shocked if both Butler and Stingley are the players they were when they went down...Ill be routing for them both but I would also be preparing Cotton to be playing significant minutes)

You think Cotton should be #2 MLB?

Unlikely that Krempel wlll be playing guard. More likely, he'll be in the mix at RT. I'd say Pegram starts at RG and Gegner at C.

I am really just trying to get a big picture here of the top 3 and where the true Freshmen fit in...Especially since Doeren said that 5-7 Freshman could be playing this year and I just don't see more than 2-3. We can fine tune this more when spring starts.

Playing time doesn't equate to starting (or 3-deep). He could have just meant situational playing time to utilize the perceived skill, athleticism, mis-match, etc., that he thinks these players can bring to the game.

And he could have meant later in the year after a half-season of developing on the practice squad.

Have a beer, take a nap. 04-cheers

He gambled on TLL and it paid off big but the same gamble did not pay off with Settle.

Play the best available (True Fr- RS Sr) so at the very least we get invited to a bowl game in 2012 and we will be in good shape for 2013.

No more Davis returning punts, please. I'm hoping Miller is doing that.

Honestly, I'd like to see what Tommy Lee Lewis can do in that role as well (punt returner)
