I saw UC's future today with Chris Paul and Eric Williams.........hopefully foreshadowing what to expect from Downey and Herrera. If Banks and Evans can duplicate Justin Gray, after a few years of hard knocks PG Downey, C Herrera, SG's Evans and Banks, SF Bright will be fun to watch. We just need a good PF. I really wish there was a decent PF left in this year's class UC could snag to grow up with this bunch coming in.
As for next year, our freshmen will be role players - HOPEFULLY (you can never predict how they will play)...............and from everything I've heard, Banks should be able to replace Nick Williams, atleast offensively. Losing Max is the biggest loss........Nick is still a loss due to his experience and defensive play. BUT..........we have alot of returning experience next year with PG Chadd Moore (4 year player), PG Jihad Muhammed (2nd season - starter), SG/SF James White (3rd season), SG/PG/SF Armein Kirkland (4th season), PF Eric Hicks (4th season), SF/PF? Roy Bright (2nd season)...........and some good newcomers plus an eligible Vince Banks. I think UC will hold their own next year. We won't dominate...............but if you get over not being the top dog..........it could be fun being the hunter rather than the hunted for awhile..........kinda like it was when Huggins first came here. UConn, Syracuse, Louisville, and others will be considered the Big East top dogs..........and national expectations for UC will be somewhat lower which might play into Huggins hands. And hopefully recruiting will continue to get better............and Huggins softer more friendly attitude/demeanor can only help the perception of recruits and parents of recruits.
Even if we lose 10 or 12, I'm am so jacked up for playing in the Big East next year. UC may be better in the long run being the underdog. Heck, it's worked for Xavier all these years!!!!

I see I need to start saving post again.
Damn guys go back to my october post and you will find the answers to your questions. I said we were way too thin in the post for the BE. Back then a lot of people were on the " small guards make the world go round " kick. Just look at that little guard from that tennesee something team they would say. Even if you use alot of guards to wear teams down, you still needs some muscle in the post.
Like HJ, I wonder about some people if we lose a lot of games . I for one always like CUSA. We were a lock for the tourney even in down years. We have the flexability to play good non conference schedule (Which we didnt do well enough) and still have enough gimme conf games.

TALENT????? are you kidding? that is not the issue? UC has more talent at every starting position than Wake other than PG. All Williams has on UC is size, definitely not talent. UC lacks intelligence and mental toughness.
and
Huggins may be more softer and friendly, but is that good? We used to win these types of games at home.

And you considered yourself alone in the knowledge that UC was thin in the post? Giving yourself alone, credit for this observation is somewhat arrogant, isn't it? Uh, there isn't a person on this board that didn't realize that. I respect your opinions and hilarious pictures, but you've got to be kidding me on this one.

All I can say in reply is: ARE YOU SERIOUS? After pasting UC for 29 points, you don't think Eric Williams is far better than Hicks and Max? You don't think Chris Paul is better than any guard we have?

Just like last year people wanted a small fast point after we got burned by a few. Now we want this inside/outside combo. We will get nowhere trying to be a cheap knockoff of other teams. Chatter, you want greatness at every position. Right about now I would like to have one go to guy we can count on every game. Have thhe other guys fill their needed roles. No cosistency with this team

chatter its not incredibly tough to make 4 footers when your 6'9'' being guarded by guys 40-50 pounds less than you and 6'6''.
and Williams didn't see a double team all day.

There are quite a few people on this board who didnt realize that , but thats not my point. I'm looking at people who are finally starting to scratch their heads and come to the realization that we are going to the BE where we will face guys like this on a regular basis. I was saying two years ago we have to get use to ngoing to the NIT now and then. I'm standing all alone and challenged when I say these things. It's just funny to me when it's brought up later.

I said when we joined the BE that we'd make fewer NCAA tournaments and more deep NCAA runs. The year after UCONN won their first title they went to the NIT. Did it mean they weren't a great program? No, it just shows that in a great conference young teams don't normally make the tournament. I'll gladly miss the tourney once every five years as long as we get a Final Four appearance in that stretch and a couple sweet 16 finishes.
That said there is no way we miss the tourney next year. Look at all the returning talent. We'll be Final Four contenders, not struggling to make the tournament. We're losing one post player and bringing in two so far. One more and we'll be extremely deep down low, although young.

I'll have a sip of what you're having. J/K.
Not sure we will be FF good. and Having extra body's down low don't make you deep. You need guys who can play.

You don't honestly think this do you????
Nick Williams over Justin Grey?
Williams is a good player but Grey is one of the best SG's in the country.
Williams over Hicks? possibly over Maxiel?
I think UC has a lot of talent this year with no bench or size but to say they have more talent than WF is a big time reach.

I wonder how this team would look if they had the 3 players they lost and could run 11 deep? Not saying any of the 3 of them would be dominating or score big points, but damn giving some guys a break and being able to contribute in any way would be a HUGE help.
