That was a bit of a joke, considering some people's attitudes here.

Back to the original question about Kenyon Martin. Let's assume Kenyon does not break his leg. Here is what I think would've happened:

UC would have easily beat SLU that day and then, they would have gone on to win the C-USA tourney
UC would have gotten the #1 seed in the Midwest and played their 1st two rounds in Cleveland (Michigan State took that slot)
Let's also assume for the sake of argument that UC would have played the same opponents as Michigan State. This probably would not be true if UC got the #1 seed but I don't want to reseed the entire 2000 NCAA bracket.
UC would have played Valpo in the 1st round, easy win.
UC would have played Utah in the 2nd round, not so easy a win but I think UC wins that one
UC would have played Syracuse in the Sweet 16. MSU won that by 17. I think UC prevails here too.
UC would have played #2 seed Iowa State in the Elite 8. Here is where things get a little dicey. ISU was very good that year and had someone in the post who would have given Kenyon quite a battle. I forget his name though. I think this game is a pick-em based on the matchups.
If UC gets past ISU, Wisconsin as a #8 or #9 seed awaits in the Final 4. I think UC blows out the Badgers.
In the final awaits Florida, another team I think UC beats.

The only game along this stretch that would provide the biggest matchup problem would have been Iowa State. I do believe that UC was the best team in the country that year with a healthy Kenyon but the best team does not always win the championship.

I also believe that if UC had played MSU that year, UC would have won.

That's him. Marcus Fizer. Very big/strong/athletic post player for ISU that year. I think he was Big 12 Player of the Year and was 1st team All-American.

I think once he gets the green light to score more.......HE WILL. I see tremendous ability to put the ball in the basket, no matter what his stats say. He's a frosh. Kirkland, Hicks, and others played just like he did when they were frosh too.
I think he'll eventually find his niche with the team. He does seem worthy of the minutes (even if this team had those other 3). He does have a nice inside game. I was also impressed with how well he can block shots. Say 15-20 more lbs, an Eric Hicks incarnate?
Maybe, but with a lot more offensive skills than eric!
I have also been very impressed with Roy so far. He does display a lot of offensive skills, moreso than Eric does.

But we seem to forget, Hicks averaged over 30 pts per game in High School. He must have some offensive abilities that he left in Carolina.

Cincy beat ISU in the regular season that year. It was in one of those tourneys. Kenyon almost had a triple double, one block away I believe.

peace.

You beat me to it THG
We beat Iowa State 75-60. Fizer did have 26 points, but only 4 rebounds. Kenyon had 22-9-9, nearly a tripe double. We roll to the Natl Champ if Kenyon doesnt get hurt, I have no doubt in my mind.
I believe Fizer sucks for the bulls right now

You are correct. I forgot that UC played and beat ISU that year. Below is a link to the boxscore:

And here is a link to the results for that entire season. What a special year that was!!!

How is it that we only lose 2 games when Kenyon was playing, and they were both to A10 teams?!?! That kinda pisses me off!

I forgot that if Kenyon hadn't gone down, we would have been a 1 seed. That would have made things much much easy. No Tulsa. But it's in the past.

ISU also had Jamaal Tinsley that year........

The reason HIcks averaged over 30 a game in high is because he was huge, played in the North Carolina equivalanet to division 2, and could just dominate and dunk on pure strength.
