LCPB Director expects crowd of 40K plus.
http://www.mlive.com/broncos/index.ssf/2..._dire.html

Expectations are for a crowd betwen 40 and 50K. WMU has already sold 6,000 tickets via their athletic department and Purdue around 4,000.

They've sold 22,000 so far, and expect at least another 18,000 in the next 9 days? I don't know about that, but hopefully they do.

I think they either give away a ton of tickets or have sponsors who buy large blocks and distribute them out.

Ken Hoffman, the CEO of the LCPB, did a radio interview Sunday morning in which he stated this years crowd would be bigger than the previous four years. So they must know something to go on the radio and make that statement.

WMU bring home the metal for the Mac. I hate you when we (EMU) plays against you but I love you any other time... Wait until next year :-)

That doesn't make sense. The game four years ago was the highest attended ever, over 60k for CMU vs Purdue. Bigger than the previous three years maybe?

RE: LCPB Director expects crowd of 40K plus.
Yes, they must mean last 3 years........many WMU'ers and casuall MAC football fans will buy locally or find giveaway promotions, etc. I am pretty sure they'll get to 40K with this match-up, but the fan bases do not get all that fired up over 7-5 and 6-6 teams, so I can't see them getting close to 50K this year.

Kind of funny how the MAC followers all root for our teams to do well in bowls (both at the gate and on the field) whereas the C-USA board tends to be filled with attendance smack. Everytime a school like SMU or Tulane beat someone in the conference, the losers go straight to attendance smack. I suspect they'll do the same to their teams in bowls that don't buy many tickets. Also, another new "angle" they have is to claim their Alliance afiliated losing teams like San Diego State don't count because they will eventually be in the Big East, plus they won't give the MAC credit for the win over Wyoming because they are already putting Temple in the future Big East.

It'll be awkward for CUSA for a while with a few schools riding out a lame duck year next season before they move off to the Big East.

As far as the LCPB, 40K or so sounds about right.

As a Temple alum and season ticket holder I consider our win over Wyoming a MAC win, while Ohio beat us the last 3 years I rooted for them to beat Utah St and I'm pulling for WMU, Toledo and NIU. I for one am tired of all the BE drama and would rather see the MAC get another primary bowl agreement to make it 4 and see UMass build up a strong program

As of a couple days ago I believe they were at 42,000 sold. According to LCPB, the two days before the game are when they sell the most tickets. It's looking like it might be close to 50,000. Will be interesting to see during the game today what the official numbers are.

This is great for the bowl. I wish Toledo would have played a Big10 team there, and we would have pushed a sell out. I'm sure WMU will bring 15k+ tho. Good Luck, and take down the Purdont Boilermakers!

WMU has sold 9K per this article and the bowl is expecting 50K.

50K looks really good in Ford Field.

Purdue beat CMU 51 - 48 in '07 (I think).

I'll predict WMU 51 and Purdue 48.

WMU was the MAC's best pick for this bowl. No other MAC team would have created the local buzz the Broncos vs Purdue has. Smart choice by the bowl!

Detroit media has done a better coverage job this year than last.
The Big Ten tie-in makes a huge difference.

Indeed.

The Detroit media did an excellent job with LCPB and also with Wayne State's run in the D-II playoffs.

Nice to see them broaden their horizons.

Now if we can get the Detroit media to cover the MACC.....but that's a different story.

Next year: Eastern Michigan vs. MAC East winner.

They'll cover that just like they covered Wayne State's D-II playoff run.

I too wish UT had the opportunity to play a B1G team.

I'm sure UT would bring a very large crowd.
