RE: Cincinnati-Xavier brawl
IMO the whole thing is the officials fault. They're the ones who failed to head this off before it got out of hand. But they failed in their job, and allowed Xavier to start the animosity with all their trash talking. But UC escalated it into a full blown fight, when Gates started throwing sucker punches. Everyone in this affair is equally guilty...
You can lay the blame for the fight at the feet of the officials, and you wouldn't be wrong. Cronin was right when he said the trash talk should have been addressed by the officials. It wasn't addressed, even though the officials were asked to do something about it more than once...

I want to dismiss the myth about Frease. He was NOT trying to break up squat. You could see him with a look in his eye, trying to go after someone. The only reason he appeared to be "breaking the fight up" is because his arms were flailing as he lost balance.
Frease head-butted Yancy a couple years ago. He's every bit of a punk as anyone else who participated.

RE: Cincinnati-Xavier brawl
I didnt see the game. I only saw on YouTube, the part where 2 players were jawin at each other and an X player came over and pushed the Cincy player down. In fact I did not even see the kid who got knocked out until the replay in slow-mo. But that replay looked as though he was trying to prevent the other players from fighting. Its possible that he was losing his balance, I dont know, but I'm not going to comment on this any further. Some folks are able to handle some healthy debate.

RE: Cincinnati-Xavier brawl
The Hamilton County Prosecutor is considering criminal charges as a result of the fight at the end of the Xavier-Cincinnati game. So I think the days of fights happening in games around Cincinnati are about to come to a close. It definitely will if the Hamilton County Prosecutor follows through - and maintains that stance...

Andy Katz today on ESPN said he has now seen video that shows Tu Holloway throwing the first punch. And he got a single game suspension.
