UCONN was I-AA, which was my point.

RE: Rumblings in the SEC
I'd have no problem with this scenario as long as there were no longer "at-large" picks. The top 10 in the formula go to the BCS games...

We're going to get smoked by LA Tech, so I don't know if I agree with that. We've been completely dismantled. At this point in time, I'll even take Cutcliffe back.

The teams involved have to purchase a set number of tickets at full face value, guaranteeing that the bowls make money. Its not the bowls who lose money, its the schools that lose. Most schools lose money going to a bowl game, they often even lose when they go the big BCS bowls. One school recently lost 2.9 million dollars going to a BCS bowl. The AQ is the main thing that sets the 6 major conferences apart from everyone else. It permanantly locks in a huge recruiting and TV contract advantage....they arent giving that up. They will add an extra bowl, probably the Jerry Bowl, and eliminate the "2-per conference rule". Those 4-loss AQ type teams will get the extra bowl and higher ranked runner up's in stronger conferences will get the better games.
Yes I understand all of that and I also understand if they maximize the number of butts in the seats that everybody involved wins (hotels, vendors, etc.). The more SEC & B10 & B12 teams involved the better in terms of ratings and attendance. Again that drives all of the other things bowls and the surrounding city (who has a say) can make $$$ from.

Garbage is probably over the top... inconsistent is probably accurate. I mean, Arkansas looks like they could beat anybody some days, and other days looks very beatable. After them, USC has major QB issues. The rest of the conference is average this year.
I still think that LSU, Alabama, and Oklahoma are the only 3 teams that should be discussed in the national title chase this year (yes, I know OU lost to TT). In terms of talent, those 3 schools are lightyears above everyone else this year.

RE: Rumblings in the SEC
I think the SEC, ESPN, and college football in general, put a lot of risk into the system in general if they start making it a choice of no AQs and lots of at-large picks for the BCS games. Talk about losing interest in large parts of the country that don't have stadiums that hold 90k+ people. They know that their school won't be going to a BCS game because they don't draw enough people, don't have enough of a fan base, etc... instead of basing it on the best teams. It is really a very simple solution... 8 or 16 team playoff based on BCS record (best choice, never will happen), or 10/12 teams get the AQs based on their BCS number at the end of the year. No at-large picks of any sort.

OK Sate if they had a decent defense would surely warrant discussion in the MNC talk, sadly they can score a ton of points, but would also give up a ton of points.

RE: Rumblings in the SEC
I love how everyone is crapping on the Big East when the Big East had a team finish #3 just two years ago. Yes, last year was pathetic, and if Cincinnati doesn't win out this year, it will be a very bad year again, but boy oh boy people just want to bury that conference.
I tend to agree though, I like the idea of just getting rid of AQ altogether and simply invite the top 10 teams. 1v2, 3v4, 5v6, 7v8, 9v10. Simple, done.
Last year would have been
Auburn vs. Oregon
TCU vs. Stanford
Wisconsin vs. Ohio State
Oklahoma vs. Arkansas
Michigan State vs. Boise
No ACC teams, no Big East teams, the top 10 teams get in.

RE: Rumblings in the SEC
The problem here is "who decides who the top 10 teams are"? There is this constant hype (from the ESPN hype machine, no doubt) telling us that the SEC is the best conference, and that's supposed to translate into the 4th best SEC team is better than the top ACC team, etc. HOGWASH. In last year's NCAA basketball tournament, VCU wasn't in the top 64... how did that work out?
