No offense squid but in some conferences it matters. Frankly I don't see Rutgers or Pitt or Syracuse or Connecticut putting up with having Tier 4s in their conference. There's a big culture difference between a Top Northern Urban University and a Tier 4 Southern Urban University. There's an even bigger culture difference between a Top Land-grant State U and a Tier 4 Urban University.

Louisville was a Tier 4 when they were invited to join the Big East.

Oh yea, Memphis being in your conference will really bring the academics down at Rutgers.  I'm sure you would lose many top freshmen due to having to play the Tigers in football and basketball.

yup and after announcing the Big East bid they were moved up to Tier 3. I guess US News works like Rivals recruiting ratings?

Maybe this is the same Rutgers fan who called us "Memphis Community College" and said we would bring nothing to the table for their mighty, way-too-good-for-us conference on another forum I glanced at once.
Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Rutgers... peas in a pod.

Hey, who can deny the academic greatness of such world-renowned pantheons of knowledge that are Louisville, Cincinnati, and West-Central Florida?

Nope never said that but go ahead put words in my mouth. Also never said its going to drag the academics down here, its just that we're not like minded schools and thus its not necessarily a fit. Don't be so touchy I'm not trying to offend you guys. I'm usually making a case for Memphis in the conference not for nothing and to go to 12 I'd like to see Memphis over South Florida in my dream conference. As for the Harvard, Princeton, Yale, and Rutgers comment its not that far from the truth we have excellent relationships with those institutions especially Princeton and Columbia. Princeton and Rutgers do alot of joint research and such. We were ranked the 44th best University in the world, I can post the link but currently the site seems down. Top 500 world universities But go ahead an think what you want about my intentions, I feel as though sometimes I'm one of the only OBE fans that consistently agrees with the OCUSA guys about you guys coming aboard the BE.

Actually Cincinnati in other rankings is looked upon favorably. I believe Cincy was actually ranked somewhere between 115 and 140 in the world on the same rankings as Rutgers at 44 behind old rival and partner Penn State at 43.

Actually I'd like to be playing the Tigers in football and basketball regularly. It'd definitely be a one-sided rivalry in basketball but a bit more even in football but not much more even. Besides it'd give me an excuse to actually go to one of the few southern areas/cities I want to see.
