Keep that up and everything else will take care of itself.

Not venting at all, each school has to do what they think is best for them in the long term. Wish anyone that leaves the best of luck. You do recall the crap Memphis caught for the lack of fans at a midweek night game in the rain?

I think if we had a better year this were we would have had a better chance in the BE sweepstakes. If we beat at least one of the BCS teams and not get blown out by Houston we could have. This year was our year to be recognized as a contender in a BCS conference

I have no idea why the BE was not interested in ECU... but I am fairly positive it's not SMU's fault, so I don't know why you have to take your frustration out on SMU fans... or UH fans.

It's not even a certainty yet that all 3 teams are leaving C-USA.

Sorry but it is very frustrating. It just makes me sick on my stomach that we have such passion around our program and pack the stadium no matter the opponent, to only see other schools struggle to get 30K in a big game, yet get catapulted ahead of us due to their market.

Attendance smack is all we Pirates can resort to at a time like this to make ourselves feel better.

Blame Boise...the only thing that would ever get SMU into the Big East conversation was Boise being needed as a lifesaver for BCS status. If you are going to grab western schools then I have no problem with Big East looking at UH and SMU to go along with Air Force and Boise. Doubt it will save them as it is too little too late after WVU, UL bolt and Rutger, UCONN start pimping on a level that would put Terry Holland to shame

Nice post, and I feel your pain too. I definitely respect what the pirates have done and I am envious of your fans.

But bottom line, SMU has the money and the market and that, unfortunately, trumps fan support.

Money drives the bus.

Don't get me wrong.. y'all have every reason to be upset... y'all did everything the right way. Dunno what more y'all could do.

I just don't think taking it out on the fans of the teams that might be leaving will help... or maybe it does... but I hate to think of all the pissing matches that'll surely result of fans of one team pointing out the shortcomings of other teams... as if any team in c-usa was perfect?

Just hate to see that, is all...

The BE does not care one iota about who comes to the stadiums to watch the games. It is not about attendance...it is about selling TV subscriptions.

Well, you can definitely put butts in the seats better than Houston can, and that's coming from the "arsehole Houston fan" and all. (But seriously, you did do everything right. I guess the Big East just doesn't care about ECU when they definitely should, regardless of TV markets and such. It makes complete sense for you geographically to be in the Big East. Not only that, but, I mean, you had some massive wins under Skip Holtz! I've slept since last night so, yeah. You not getting invited is a real travesty. I'm very, very sorry, ECU fans. You should've gotten an invitation like we did.)

I honestly offer congrats to UCF, SMU, Houston and each of their fans. I wish you guys nothing but the best in the future except when you're playing Memphis or another current CUSA school.

However, "Money drives the bus" is a sad statement about college athletics.

True. but lets say if we did beat South Carolina, Virginia Tech and North Carolina. Big East should be knocking at our door with a invite and a basket of cookies saying welcome to the neighborhood

All the fans seem to be out boulevarding 03-wink

But yeah it's kind of sad, this is what happens when you compete against teams like the Rangers and the Stars who both play today (and one who's game has World Series implications). That's the nice thing about living in podunk towns, the people there definitely go and support the only sports entertainment available. Oh well, we'll just have to overcome this issue, hopefully BCS money = BCS caliber marketing because Pony fans here know how god awful our marketing is.
