RE: Dodds: Supports Big 12 but Pac-12 still a option
"College carcasses in alley this morning, tire treads on burst stomachs. The FBS is afraid of me. It has seen my true face. The Big XII is an extended gutter and the gutter is full of my greed and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their jealousy and low-yield athletics will foam up about their waists and all the chancellors and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"... and I'll look down and whisper 'No.'"

Why do you need the Big 12 to move forward? Can't the BE just go raid the Big 12 and take the teams they want?

Possibly might happen in the summer of 2012. The Big East will negotiate the next TV deal with ESPN in Sept2012. If an agreement cannot be reached then in Nov.2012, bidding is opened up to NBC/Comcast, Fox and others. The Big East will not act this year unless an opportunity opens up such as the Big XII dissolves or the ACC gets raided for 1 or 3 teams by the SEC.

Tex would prefer to be where they are, So won't move until they have no choice. As for the B12, if it blows up today, it is finished. If it does not blow up until next go round they will have 1 to 3 more pieces available to use in putting it all back together...

As for Texas wanting to go inde, I see nothing that shows that. They have the best of all worlds where they are. The Pac would work if they could keep their own network. This go round the B12 loses 1 and will likely add 1. That change actually makes the B12 stronger, there is one more non B12 spot filled, and they will still be there with 10 teams. I think like the BE has done, the B12 will think and act short term to max the $$$$, while not looking to long term survival of the league. Thus they only add 1 team for 2012.

Except NJ has nearly 8.8 million people and Seton Hall doesn't play football and is a relatively small, barely solvent private school. Apples to oranges much. A much better comparison would be having WVU and Marshall.

Very interesting that this was said today.

Larry Scott likes KU. He was ready to slide them into the Pac-16 last year instead of A&M if the others were willing to go, and the Pac presidents had pre-approved KU as an invitee.

KU, MO to B10.03-shhhh

Kansas State is good for Big East, they actually have some football history. Good basketball, and a little bit better off than non-AQs

Larry Scott is going to be in the Dallas area for the next few days, I wonder if he has some free time before/after the Oregon vs LSU game

Because Dodds has nearly closed that door with his arrogance. Ironic, I know.

Translation for those unfamiliar with Deloss Double Speak:

"We want to preserve our private sandbox at all costs, because no other conference is so dependent on one school as the Big 12 is on us that they will give us the level of control and preferential treatment we feel is our birth right."

"However, if the Big 12 can not sustain our ambitions, we will look elsewhere and see who is willing to give in to our demands first."
