RE: Recruits for 2012-2013
J.C. Press article on the signings:
http://johnsoncitypress.com/Sports/article.php?id=95699
“They’re two very different types of players,” said Bartow. “Mario is a very strong, physical 2-guard who can really shoot. He’s got a quick release and deep range.
“Petey McClain is a point guard with a tremendous motor. He has great speed and is thick; he looks like a fullback. We really like the way he can run a team.”

RE: Recruits for 2012-2013
I don't think we ever offered 2011-12 prospect DeShaun Delaney out of Chicago, but the swingman is having a monster year at juco powerhouse Vincennes Univeristy in his first season. Averaging 19 ppg, 9 rpg, and almost 2 bpg, Delaney may be a name to keep an eye for the 2013-14 class.

RE: Recruits for 2012-2013
I have no idea if this kid is on our radar, but Nate Rucker out of Memphis is now playing for Southwest Community College in Memphis after playing his freshman year at Northern Illinois (He played all 30 games for NIU, averaging 7 & 4). We offered Rucker last year, who is a Sneed-like at 6'6" 240. Rucker is an undersized post, but is also an explosive leaper like Sneed was:

More instructive are some college highlights of him as a freshman against Bradley and Akron - not bad.

Wonder why NIU lost a promising freshman like this??

RE: Recruits for 2012-2013
A little research seems indicate at least on the surface that Rucker did not want to play the 5 at NIU, preferring to be a 3 or 4. That coupled with the fact that the assistant coach that had recruited him is no longer at NIU either seem to be the main reasons for his departure. There also seems to be some belief with some NIU folks that there may have also been something else that happened to hasten his departure. The fact that it was not announced until August that he would not be back seems a little fishy to me.
None the less if he really does not want to play as a 5, would he fit or be comfortable at ETSU with the other pieces that are currently in place realizing that he would likely be asked to play at least in part as a 5?

Apparently his father is the poster that started the thread referenced by the second link. Anyone just want to PM him and ask about ETSU?

Rucker's stats are modest thus far with Southwest Tennessee C.C.:

We could use Rucker's athleticism and toughness next season.

RE: Recruits for 2012-2013
Guys I was visiting my brother who has a son that plays for Dyersburg State college on Sat. They played Southwest community college. I saw the kid thats being talked about. He is a very good player. He kinda intimidated dyersburg players. Like someone else posted he is undersized to be playing center but he is one nice size kid. He scored most of the time he touched the ball and was a beast on the boards. That team he plays on is mostly out of control guards that take most of the shots but they hit most LOL. They beat my nephew team I think by 20. I did ask some of the memphis people there about who he was but no one knows where he is leaning. Someone said he left Northern Illinois because all the coaching staff got fired. I live in bristol and get to quite a few games. This guy would be a steal.

RE: Recruits for 2012-2013
Chase Mounce, a 6'9" center from Elkin, NC via Fork Union Military Academy (Didn't Michael Tolliver attend Fork Union?) is on our radar according to rivals. Here's what I was able to find on the small-town center:

Stats (as a junior in high school):
9.7 ppg, 6 rpg, 3.7 bpg
http://www.maxpreps.com/athletes/aua-DZd...mounce.htm

Youtube clips (#40)
http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLA86829F0EBEDDEA5

Evaluation:
The latter makes up for his lack of quickness and athleticism with his surprisingly mobility, good skills, and willingness to run the court and
compete in the paint.

RE: Recruits for 2012-2013
Why is he at Fork Union but lives in Elkin? One would think he would play at Wilkes Central, who has traditionally been a pretty solid basketball program in the mountains. It looks like they've been losing a fairly good clip as a team.
Interesting recruit.

Any word from the Ju Co's for a big man next year? We need immediate help in that area. I believe we have all the other pieces of the puzzle in place, for the A-Sun that is. Kinda sucks we can't make our trips across the mountains to cheer on our team. Florida is just to bit of a haul for me.

RE: Recruits for 2012-2013
I realize that we're probably "interested" in many players across the country, but Scout has us showing interest in John Hudson, a 6'4" sharpshooter from Newbern, TN.

Post players are obviously a dire need in the offseason, and we have a pure shooter/scorer in Stramaglia coming in next season, so Hudson is likely way down our list (if at all).

We need scorers ASAP. I don't care if they are guards, big men or the waterboys. We need offensive guys now.
