Rams up by 8 with possession and 24.2 seconds left...
It would take a couple of miracles for KU at this point

Man South Florida beat VCU in Overtime back in December. The BE should have gotten 12 teams in.

I'm happy for our former Sun Belt and Metro Conference brothers at VCU. First time USF beat a Final Four team since the Seth Greenberg era.

If Butler didn't win their conference tournament, the Final Four matchup could very well have been a First Four matchup....just insane.

VCU beat a team from each of the Top 6 basketball conferences in the nation excluding Mountain West in this tournament: USC (Pac-10), Georgetown (Big East), Purdue (Big Ten), FSU (ACC), and Kansas (Big XII). What a strong 'mid-major'.

The BCS system is awful. March Madness over the BCS everyday of the year. Ok, the best team doesn't always win the Big Dance and not every path is equal, but its so much fun to watch teams try to get into tournament and advance. Heck just one win isn't that easy let alone the 6 or 7 (Thanks VCU) needed to win it all.

Yes, i have many VCU - USF memories from the Sun Belt days of the early-mid 1980s. Generally speaking, they were better than us then. They regularly made the NCAA tournament while we didn't. Once we both went to the Metro, things turned more in our favor.
Too bad for VCU: we kept getting promoted to better conferences because of our size and the 'potential' of the Tampa market, but after the Metro conference, they got left behind. Well, until now, LOL.

+1. People need to stop comparing BCS bowls to March Madness. There isn't anything as good as March Madness in college football.
There is no champ in football. It is a popularity contest that usually won by SEC and B11 teams due to amount of voters they got. A bowl game BCS or not is just another bowl win.
If they put the BCS system into college basketball, VCU and Butler would never even get a chance to be on the court with the big boys.

RE: VCU/Kansas
I'm thrilled for VCU. Living 5 minutes from GMU I follow the CAA pretty closely. It's a terrific league. They deserved 3 teams in the tournament this year. GMU caught Ohio State on a night when they were on fire from the floor, but they did win a game, and ODU was a tough out for a Final Four team, Butler.
They did sorta get a raw deal in expansion over the years. But the CAA ultimately has been a good home for them.

VCU plays a style that is really fun to watch. In fact watching this tournament as a whole really upset me because the Bearcats didn't get a legit chance to see if they could hang with a team outside of the Big East.....

March Madness just shows that the regular season in college basketball is virtually meaningless...as approx 20% of all teams make the tournament.
In College Football, every regular season weekend is basically a PLAYOFF Game, as unlike in the regular season in college basketball, one loss in during the regular season in college football can knock you out of the title game.
March Madness is great...CBS/Turner pay Billions of $$$$ to cover it...which is why most of the networks pay peanuts (compared to the 3 week NCAA tourn figure) to cover the REGULAR SEASON in college basketball...as those games don't mean as much and obviously don't attract that much of an audience.
