While your post wasn't in response to any of my posts, I felt compelled to reply since it has so many inaccuracies in it.

True.
Quote:Temple left the Big East not for many of the glorious reasons people like to throw around but for the simple fact Temple gave the Big East the ultimatimum all sports full member or kick us out.
Absurdly untrue. I totally documented this as being false but rather being a retroactive attempt to save face by Temple. It's in the Big East archives for anyone interested.
Quote:The Big East raised the bar on football requirements and Temple met them each time.
They never met the attendance requirement while the facilities requirement was procured in the last year of the probationary period but would not be in place until several years after that. Still, the requirement wasn't to procure the facilities for some time in the future after the probationary period was over but rather to have them in place and be playing in it by the time the probationary period was over.
Of course, it's obvious Nova will apparently not be held to the same standard (should they decide to move up) so I'm sure this rightly rankles Owls' fans.
Quote:they continued to moan and grow becuase yes Temple was a black eye on the confrence so they started to in force how much money was put into atheltics at each University.
One of an institution's obligations to the conference it belongs to is to ensure their athletics programs are funded appropriately. It isn't to simply join and get $$$.
Quote:None of the attendance and competitivness items were the final reason because they would all contridict the fact that Rutgers remained.
Actually, I believe Rutgers met the attendance requirement in all but one of the years Temple was on probation.
Quote:Temple was asked to compete as a Big East university with only a partial payout.
They were asked to compete in
football in the BE and received a
full payout for football based upon the distribution of
football $$$ that was in effect at that time.
Quote:Villanova was and continues to be terrified of the Temple being an all Big East member.
I'd hardly call it being "terrified", but rather watching out for one's own interests.
Cheers,
Neil
