Doeren is killing for ATHLETES.
Shows he's confident in his and his staff's abilities to develop the talent.
Let's hope he's right and successful in recruiting athletes.

Quote:I went down to Northern Illinois. I was really impressed with their facilities. Their indoor facility is really cool and it an up-and-coming program with Coach Doren. I think it could be a possibility. I liked Minnesota, too. I am also getting interest from Wisconsin, Indiana and some MAC schools.

I like how Doeren is focusing a lot on the talent in IL and the surrounding states and then mixing in the south.

Question for those in the know. What is the difference between electronic and hand held timing in the 40 and which is more accurate?

Electronic more accurate
It also matters the surface that the time is taken on...grass, field turf, track...

+1///and electronic times are SLOWER. An NFL combine 4.6 is a big diff than a "normal" hand held 4.6. There really are not that many that can run 4.5 or better and yet you 100's of kids on Rivals/Scout with 4.5's...

Quote:Brotherly love: According to the Miami Herald, Illinois commitment Keith Brown will look elsewhere if another school also plans to offer his brother, Lamar Atkins, a scholarship as Illinois did. Both players are linebackers.
Miami defensive coordinator Mark D'Onofrio visited Brown and expressed interest but the Hurricanes don't have a scholarship for his brother, Brown told the Herald. He once had committed to Miami before choosing Illinois.
"Now that this happened with Coach Zook, everything's up in the air," Brown told the paper.
Schools like Ohio, Bowling Green and Florida International have shown interest in Atkins, the paper reported.
Brown said Miami is "the No. 1 team in my heart" but also told the Herald he still is committed to Illinois.
What are the chances that NIU can steal these two away?

We will probably have to worry about the reverse once Illinois gets a coach. You would have to figure a guy coming in late to salvage a recruiting class will try to raid our stash.

Ya but 2 years ago we had a chuckle head as a coach, a 6-6 campaign, we lost in our bowl game badly and we were not even close to getting an IPF.
We did not look like the team we did 2 years ago to recruits.
Maybe we do need to play Illinois in the Pizza bowl...if we can defeat them.

Information from a recruiting website.
"Another Eastern Kansas League standout in 2011 was Tre Parmalee of Bishop Miege. A versatile athlete who surely would've been evaluated at the major level had he waited decided not to waste any time in making a commitment.
"I committed to Northern Illinois," said the 5-10 athlete by phone. "They offered the Saturday after we lost to Blue Valley in the playoffs and I accepted. They're looking for me to play both receiver and defensive back, but mostly on defense."

DeKalb is 6 and 1/2 hours from Council Bluffs while Louisville is 11 and 1/2 hours so if his family ever wants to drive to his games we have the advantage there.

I would hope Doeren would atleast give this some thought. If Illinois can offer both, I would def. say NIU could. Would be one hell of a pick-up.
