I got a "hahaha" out of Kanan during the chat today. I would love to work for our athletic department.

Amen to that, MileHigh! All I care about is that they want to be Broncos, first and foremost.

RE: Official Recruiting Thread 2012
I think that there is some value to honong local relationships. For all of our Florida kids we still don't have a MAC title, or even a division championship under Cubit. So I guess that our continuing mediocrity is the result of that approach. Apparently we can say that we've had more mediocre seasons than CMU, but less championships. It depends upon our standards of success and our expectations. Truth be told, the Florida results are so-so, and our record is clear.

Moreover, our class ranking with our heavy out of state emphais is not ranked higher than CMU's. Having made that observation, let me note that rankings are useless.

I see we signed 6 wide receivers. Hmmmm. I assume that there will be position changes.

No position changes. We have 12 wr's on scholarship with 2 of them sr's and 3 of them jr's. With the 5 wide set we are running, you need need to be about 2 deep at each spot. You also have to factor at least 1 of them is gonna bbe lost to attrition. Also, with only 13 schollies for next year(unless we lose alot to attrition) then we can be very choosey next year and it will be ok if we dont sign one.

There is a couple of threads devoted to the topic of our perceived mediocrity under the current coaching staff. Let's please not have this discussion in this thread as well. Thank you

Florida high schools has Spring Football, most have a year-long "athletic period," and longer regular season (10 games to 9 here).

So their kids have much more opportunity to develop, equivalent of an extra year.

Stands to reason there are more prospects in Sunshine State than Michigan.

But with all the colleges playing Football between there and Kalamazoo, have to wonder why a kid would pass up not only the Big Three, Central Florida, and South Florida, but also FAU and FIU to come north.

Some of them just want to get away from home a little bit. That is just part of the normal college experience. I mean, why would guys like Devin Oliver want to play for Dayton? These guys know they can come here at this point and play with dudes they know. Heck, David Reed was quoted as guys like Delmas and Biggers being big factors in his decision to come up here.

We will lose some to attrition for sure. It happens every year. I think the surprise is we get just as much attrition from the midwest kids as we do the florida kids.

Excellent article and number crunching. Got sick of pfunk24 on mlive board squeeling about FL recruits at WMU, so I looked up some info.

In short, WMU is almost 4x more likely to find a recruit in FL than in MI. That stat paired with the whole Michigan and MSU perceptions kids are brought up with = WMU is doing just fine.

Thank God, Spring football has started in the South. Looking forward to the Spring games at the end of practices.
