RE: What the hell is going on in Iowa?
I worry that this Iowa situation is a lot like a chessboard: the pawns will all be sacrificed, maybe even a few rooks and knights, but the king (Ferentz) will be left standing. When you endanger lives, you should be fired on moral and legal grounds. Iowa probably doesn't want to be seen as a place young men go to be worked to death, nor does it want to pay for those damages.

And Ferentz didn't stop his recruiting tour right away when he got the news....that's harsh and coming off as Brian Kelly cold.

A parent said that drug tests came back negative and some of the kidney damage (up to 20-30% of functionality) may NOT be repaired....just awful.

Drug test for illegal drugs is what I read. Did you see any where about supplement type drug testing?

Also, if it was a supplement of some sort, it's easily possible it's something the players did on their own. They wouldn't be the first college kids to do try to do something to get ahead without the coach knowing. I don't know if that really excuses Ferentz, if he wasn't doing a great job of following his players, but I'd leave everything on the table until we know more.

And really, if Kelly didn't get fired, I don't have the first clue what it takes to get a coach fired. Apparently unless you beat your wife as Pitt's coach did you're pretty much fine.

They still have links to articles about the Ohio State, Illinois, and Iowa bowl games. Funny they picked those particular bowl games to mention on the front page.

The Big Ten Network site is the one that's updated frequently with news while the "regular" site is generally just official press releases and things like that. There are several articles on the BTN site about the Iowa situation.

There have been rumors about Iowa floating around the Big Ten since the late 90's/early 2000's when Robert Gallery went from a skinny TE to a bloated offensive lineman seemingly overnight.
