RE: WMU better root against ASU tonight
Every MAC school should want WMU to get in. After all, they all get a share of that bowl payout money.

After the team expenses are subtracted, I think the net profit to be distributed amongst the 13 member schools is about $2.36 each.

That becomes $2.19 each if we add a 14th school for football.
I'd rather we not add a 14th member and we keep our extra .17 cents.

What the NCAA needs to consider, is whether ASU was willing to play anyone, anywhere, anytime? I am sure if ASU contacted a MAC school and said we want to come to your place and play you, a MAC school would have adjusted their schedule, dropped a FBS school, etc... I am sure ASU didn't contact Boise St or TCU and say, "Hey can we play you guys?"

I don't see how it's in NIU's interest at all if Western goes to a bowl. It's not like the basketball tournament.
I feel like this is completing the circle Miami started when they got the waiver to go to a bowl with a losing record.
If ASU get in and this is what keeps Ohio from throwing hundreds of thousands of dollars down the toilet... well, I can't say I'm against it.

RE: WMU better root against ASU tonight
ASU should have called a fellow FBS school and bought out their game against an FCS opponent. Since Notre Dame doesn't play FCS schools, that leaves 119 schools to play 11 FBS opponents, which is not mathematically possible. Either someone else can't play an FCS school, or someone has to play two. Kansas State fell victim to this in 2009 after playing UMass and Tennessee Tech.
Ironically, this problem gets fixed in 2012 with South Alabama becoming the 121st team in FBS.

Not a problem in and of itself. There was at least one other team (Ball State) that chose to play 2 FCS teams, and I haven't looked elsewhere. There seem to be enough teams that choose it, that would make the even number thing a crapshoot
