Had lunch today with an administrator and was told Sept 15th will be the football announcment date for the Football Committee's recommendation. The administrator would not tip their hand but I after lunch today I feel that Football will happen.

That's good to know - don't like being kept in suspense! I suppose two weeks isn't too long to wait. Maybe.

With the anticipation of the announcement of football, man, two weeks is like a month. It sucks.

True! Fortunately, I have the Aussie rules playoffs to keep me occupied until then. Sucks to have to wait, but we've waited so long, what's another two weeks I reckon!

11:30. Wednesday, September 15. Convocation Center. It's open to the public. There's an event on Facebook for it. I've already graduated, but I wouldn't miss it for anything. Anybody else coming?

Sorry to double post but I just found the date on the Atlanta touchdown club engagement. It's on October 4th and it's listed as Papp and Dooley to speak. Why would they speak at the touchdown club a whole 2 weeks after the announcement if the announcement wasn't that a football program is coming to ksu? Sounds pretty good to me. Can't wait till the 15th!

EDIT: Been trying to corroborate the announcement we all know is coming. Found this blog comment, not sure of its credibility, but its still an outside source that isnt anyone on this board. The blog calls it an "open secret" that KSU will announce football.

EDIT #2: KSU Sentinel, the campus newpaper, has confirmed the press conference on their twitter account. "KSU President Papp & Vince Dooley to announce results of Football Exploratory Committee, Wed, Sept. 15, 11:30 a.m., KSU Convocation Center."

Lover it is pretty much a done deal according to everything we have heard. I can't imagine at this point that we would choose not to go ahead with it. The question is at what level do we enter...I am thinking we will roll into 1-AA probably...I can't imagine Dooley getting involved to field a non-scholarship football team.

I have heard 2013 for the first year our program would begin play. I looked up the GSU press conference from a couple years ago. It was in April 2008. They fielded a team in virtually 2 1/2 years. I don't know, with the season having just started, if we could bring it all together that quickly (pretty much 2 years). However, I thought this was worth posting....I sweep across google on a daily basis looking for any updates (with the announcement being 1 week away now), and I came across this article from Macon. The article is predominantly about GSU and it's success in its first game, but there is a snippet about KSU at the bottom of the article. It says:

"With Georgia State starting football, you can look for Kennesaw State to make the announcement some time this fall that the sport will be coming to its campus within the next two years."

He seems to think the timetable would be 2012, like you nick, but I suppose it's all speculation and will ultimately be irrelevant after the 15th.

An article from today's Marietta Daily Journal. Not much of substance in there, but I thought I'd post it anyways. It does say that football at KSU is a lock and the press conference is only a formality. Says KSU might be better suited for football than GSU. I don't know, thought I'd pass it along.

Feels like we might see an article every day until next Wednesday! Hopefully it is a formality, it will be very disappointing if we get a negative next week, although frankly I doubt they would be going to all this trouble if they weren't going to do it.

We already built our own stadium. I don't see how this doesn't get done. 2012, 2013... it's going to happen.
