Warning... If you call in while they are talking bamuh football, and they ask you what you want to talk about and you tell them UAB _____ (fill in the blank), You will remain on hold for about an hour, and they will get to your call right up against a break. That is just how it works.

lie to them

That's what I was thinking. For those that call, do the old bait and switch technique. Tell them (if you can choke out the words) that you want to talk about Satan's nutsack and then when you get to talk to them, start talking UAB stuff.

Slimbaum: So what what do you think about Saban's chances of repeating for a NC?

disguised UAB caller: I'm glad you asked. I think that UAB, as the premier basketball team in the state, has a great chance to go deep into the NCAA tournament.

Simbaum: That's not what I asked.

disguised UAB caller: Well I realize that UAT stinks at basketball this year and you [Paul] have your lips permanently attached to Satan's nutsack but football is over and the educated fans want to talk about UAB basketball.

Then they cut you off. It has happened to several of us. Good job Rod.

The only hope is a new sports talk radio station will appear one day. JOX is a lost cause.

Props to Rod for calling them out and their ignorance. Could you post a recap of the conversation for those of us that missed it?

It's a funny thing about that. From a radio industry newsletter I subscribe to (Radio-Info.com's "Taylor on Radio-Info", Jan 25th):
Quote:Birmingham, Alabama seller Don Leo ha a non-compete lawsuit by Citadel dismissed. Follow up to the T-R-I story of January 19, where Citadel sued Don Leo to enforce a six-month non-compete to keep him away from Cox Radio until this Spring. Now Federal Judge Inge Johnson dismisses the breach of contract suit against Leo personally and the parallel suit against Cox. No terms announced for the settlement. Don Leo claims that he’d been a specialist in selling sports advertising for Citadel, and that his work at Cox would be in a different category.

Now, that in itself isn't an indicator of anything--but in any event, Mr. Leo has 'the rolodex'.
