Most teams/conferences have seen their attendance RISE over the past 20 years or so...just like many teams in the Big East have as well.

Most auto-bid BCS conferences have seen attendance rise over the past 10 years. This has not been the case with the non-auto-bid conferences such as the WAC, C-USA, MAC, etc.

Cheers,
Neil

There are some exceptions, notably ECU, UCF, USM from CUSA, Boise and Fresno from the WAC. Schools that have moved up or put together better facilities in that 20 year time frame like Marshall or Buffalo are also obviously drawing better than in the pre facility era.

All of Ohio's top 25 crowds have come since 1996.

#7 MWC 33,394 increase 911

sooo... The average attendance in the MWC - hyped as a better league than the BE by some and viewed by many as potentially the next BCS league - is on par with our lowest team in terms of attendance. 7 of 8 BE schools outdrew the MWC average attendance this year.

2.UCF - 38,078
3.USM - 30,696
4.UTEP - 29,010
5.UM - 25,795

wow those are some really dissapointing numbers... i always thought memphis was a 40k per year team

entire league under the big east average

those numbers for houston are just pathetic considering how well they played for most of the year

ECU looks like the only one who on the basis of attendance could keep up with the big east

WV 57317
Pitt 53446- largest in NBE years
USF 52553- New school record

UConn 38229
UC 33957- New school record i believe
UL 32450

UConn is one program I think that should definitely look into stadium expansion in the next 3-5 years. The Huskies have a very solid support base and I think that program has plenty of room for growth. Would be very nice to see the Rent expanded to the 52,000-55,000 range.

Possible Big East stadium sizes by 2014-2015?
USF 65,857
Pitt 65,050
WVU 60,000
Louisville 55,000
UConn 55,000????
Rutgers 52,454
Cuse 49,250
Cincinnati 45,000????

You need to also look at % of capacity. Some of our stadiums cannot facilitate a large number. I think ECU bordered on 100% for a few years now. We will have 50,000 seats at the begining of next season (hopefully the weather for construction cooperates), hopefully we can help CUSA avg increase.

If you build it and win, they will come! Any non BCS school averaging over 40,000 gets major props from me being a college football junkie.
