It's about time. Snyder took a good program and ran it into the ground...

Virginia just fired Al Groh. UL better get moving. Unfortunately Cincy might be looking for a coach in couple of weeks too. I hope the AD got a plan in place.

Al Groh should've been fired years ago...

Eh. It was on the downside at the end of Pruett's tenure. There's a decent chance they'll go to a bowl game, so I'm a little surprised.

I agree. Pruett knew what was about to happen at Marshall and so he jumped ship.
And I thought the Memphis fans were saying they were going to land a big name HC with exerience. What happened?

Snyder has made some big mistakes in Huntington. You should read some back articles in the Huntington Herald-Dispatch. There's been a lot of disatisfaction over several incidents within the program. I don't remember all the details. But the articles in the Marshall archives will tell it all to you...

Interesting that Snyder's termination is being phrased as a resignation and not a firing. Marshall did bring in a new AD recently from UNLV.

http://herdzone.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl...09aaa.html

Should also be noted that UNLV still does not have a permanent athletic director and it is not expected that they will have one to hire the next FB coach.

While not at the FBS level, Georgia Tech's slotback/special teams coach has accepted the head coaching position at Georgia Southern and will assume duties after the ACC title game.

Apparently former UC head coach Rick Minter will be coaching Marshall if they make a bowl game, but then he's out on his butt, too.

Adding Akron. They dumped former Pitt assistant JD Brookhart.

I thought Minter was pretty good at Cincy. He got the ball rolling there so people after him could have success.

He did get the ball rolling at UC, but he is not a good head coach. He will probably never get another head coaching job.

RE: Coaching Carousel 2009-10
With the way coaches salaries are escalating, it's going to be difficult for any small non-AQ school to keep any degree of consistency for an extended period...if they can get lucky and find a coach that can string together a couple of 8-9 win seasons, they'll be gone when the first zero is added to their contract. But that's the way it works.

Surprising to see some of these smaller schools pull the trigger in lean times, knowing that they've got contracts to fulfill and they're going to be paying the new guy the same if not more. There was a time when ECU had 3 football coaches on the payroll...that's tough money to justify right there, especially if you don't have the pockets to pay it. Then you look at ND...Charlie's contract was worth more than most non-AQ athletic budgets. Just amazing.

This list will probably double after next weekend. The measure of success is getting shorter and shorter.

Marshalls current AD used to be our AD. He was the guy who brought in that gem known as John 03-puke Thompson

ESPN is also reporting that Bobby Bowden will announce his retirement tomorrow and that Jimbo Fisher will take over after the bowl game.

I always liked Bobby Bowden. He'll be missed. I wonder if Paterno takes this as his sign to go as well.
