Turner Gill to KU would be a nice fit. He's an old Nebraska guy.

John L. Smith needs to get back into coaching and it seems Marshall would be a good destination for him, but they're not interested I guess.

UNLV may hire current Arizona AD Jim Livengood within the next week. He also may bring Mark Stoops, brother of Arizona HC Mike Stoops, Oklahoma HC Bob Stoops and current Arizona defensive coordinator, with him as the new football HC.

Apparently, Mark Stoops has verbally agreed to terms to take over Youngstown St. (the Stoops family is from Youngstown, OH), but has yet to sign the contract and this may be the holdup.

Rob Ianello, who would have coached Notre Dame in a bowl game, has been hired by Akron.

He's trying to lure WVU RB coach Chris Beatty to Virginia as his new OC. It would be a good job for Beatty. But I hope he stays in Morgantown. He's brought a lot of talent from Virginia to WVU. But that's a big part of the reason why London wants him. He'd be stupid not to want Beatty.

I saw that. It's a good hire. Nebraska may come to regret not hiring Gill sooner than they think...

RE: Coaching Carousel 2009-10
A few Big East names showed up on the article announcing Gill's departure in the Buffalo News

Quote:Possible replacements include UB assistant head coach and offensive coordinator Danny Barrett, who has head coaching experience in the Canadian Football League.

Other candidates that would be attractive to UB are Cincinnati offensive coordinator Jeff Quinn, who will lead the undefeated Bearcats in the Sugar Bowl next month, New Orleans Saints tight ends coach Terry Malone, Boise State offensive coordinator Bryan Harsin and Connecticut offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Joe Moorhead.

The Danny Barrett mentioned is a Cincinnati alum who was an honorable mention AP All-American QB for the Bearcats in the early 80s.

According to Tom Dienhart of Yahoo! Sports, Central Michigan coach Butch Jones is expected to interview today for head football coach at Cincinnati.

Dienhart says that East Carolina coach Skip Holtz could also talk to Cincinnati at some point this week.

Dienhart reports both coaches are the top candidates for the job and that UC's coaching search could wrap up this week.

UC AD Mike Thomas said Thursday he will not comment on his search for Brian Kelly's replacement until it is complete.

Going to pencil in Butch Jones at Cincy, create the CMU opening and close the ULM opening as former Army coach Todd Berry will fill it.

There always a chance of a change or two after the bowls, but I kinda doubt it.

UNLV has hired Montana's head coach, Bobby Hauck

Also, Central Michigan has announced it will not have a permanent head coach until after its bowl game on 1/6. Since its a recruiting dead period, it could be someone on staff.
