If he wants in college he'll stay around for a few years and then possibly go to a ND or Ohio State, which is fine by most of us. We'll take 3 years of him to get things going again, then either turn the reigns over to brother Jay or we then go after another up and comer and that time.
Forget the fact that I think its a terrible fit. For a fan base that got jerked around like they did from Petrino sure seems to be a confident bunch when it comes to what Gruden would and wouldn't do a year or two down the road.

Rick Pitino was a college coach that ultimately made a mistake going to the NBA. His style simply didn't translate to the pro level and when he was fired by the Celtics, no one else in the NBA seriously considered him for a job. Gruden is a different situation - his firing by the Bucs was a surprise and, judging by how poorly that teams looks now without him, a lot of NFL people think that Tampa made a mistake. As a result, he's going to be in very high demand by NFL teams this offseason. I can't think of any instance where a guy could effectively have a choice of either a new pro head coaching job or a new college head coaching job at the same time ended up taking the college job - the only times where people pass over pro jobs is where they are firmly already entrenched somewhere at a college (i.e. Coach K turning down the Lakers job, Tom Izzo at Michigan State, etc.), which wouldn't be the case with Gruden.
It's not even so much the money (which is still a big factor) - the Tampa firing was unceremonious and the quotes from Gruden thereafter indicate that there's a bad taste in his mouth, which would lead one to believe that he wants back into the NFL to re-affirm his bona fides. I just don't see him coaching at the college level anywhere - not at U of L, Notre Dame, or any other program.

Like I said before, he could get a big time NFL gig after this season, no reason to go to UL if thats what he wants. If he wants a big time college job then hang with MNF for 2 more years while TB pays you 5+ a year then see if ND or tOSU or whoevere else opens up. Even if we lose him in 3 years so be it, its a lot better than what we have going now.

RE: Gruden to UL growing legs
Wow, I'm hearing that Jurich has pulled together an unprecedented deal in college football. UPS has signed on to pay the new head coach. That new head coach is Bob Stoops of Oklahoma. YUM! (KFC & Pizza Hut) will pay the OC and their coaches. Supposedly a high octane head coach will sign on as the OC, Mike Leach maybe? Papa John's will pay the DC and his coaches. It is supposed to be Bud Foster... and Charlie Strong. This is a mega multi million dollar deal. It's true! The only thing UofL has to do is expand the stadium to 80,000 rather than 55,000... and three times a year they have to wear the products brand colors on TV, and season tickets holders will buy stock in these companies, and they will have exclusive rights, and it'll be awesome!

Bob Stoops is going to UofL? All right! Now you can lose all your BCS bowl games...

if i'm running the show i want two teams in LA to share the new stadium...my two teams would be the the raiders and jaguars-they are the easy pick if LA get only one team.
First things first, though - this thing needs to be financed. There have been numerous NFL stadium proposals in LA but none of them have ever gotten past the dream stage.
2 NFL teams is ambitious considering that this market hasn't had any teams for nearly 15 years, but I could easily see UCLA wanting to play in a new stadium if it's anywhere near downtown LA. The Rose Bowl is cool but much too big for the size of UCLA's fan base. Getting UCLA to come along starts turning the project from purely an NFL one into a stadium that has multi-uses (which would arguably start justifying the cost more, if you could ever say that the costs of these stadiums are ever justifiable).
