We're ranked ahead of Ohio State for the first time in our history. The Bearcats are making a lot of history the last 3 years!

I've got mixed feelings about USF's ranking. On one hand, it's great to be ranked, and we've earned it
On the other, getting ranked has been the Kiss of Death for USF in the past.

RE: New Polls
If UC goes undefeated, many are saying that they will still not play in the BCS NC game. No respect for the Big East, just no respect.

No, we were ranked above OSU in 1951. November 21, to be exact - we were #20 and the Buckeyes were unranked, according to C. Trent Rosecrans.

I saw on the USF site that USF has been ranked in 20 of the last 39 polls so USF hasn't always dropped out right away.
USF has to learn how to finish and play with a chip when ranked. This could be the year.

RE: New Polls
At this point, I think it's unlikely an undefeated UC team wouldn't make it. I think the only 1 loss team that would get in over the Bearcats would be the SEC champion (although it's possible a 1 loss USC or 1 loss Big 12 team might). That means so long as the Big 12 champion has one loss, and Iowa and Wisconsin lose at some point, an undefeated UC team would be in the top 2.
With that said, there is a long way to go in the season, and I wouldn't bet on anyone going undefeated at this point.

RE: New Polls
Way too early for NC talk. If either UC or USF goes undefeated, they will be in the NC picture, unless like someone said, UF and Texas go undefeated. USF still has to play 2 top 10 teams, potentially. UC and Miami. A Miami win would vault us way up there.

RE: New Polls
I think Texas is going to fall along the way along with Florida and maybe Alabama. Alot of football left to be played before UC and USF are legit NC players. For all we know UC can fall on its face and lose 3 games and USF could completely fall apart like they have some years down the stretch. By no means i'm saying this will happen. But its definately possible.

Correct, it could happen, but I don't see USF falling apart this year due to the defense. We rotate so many big time d line personnel in it's unbelievable. Created 7 turnovers after 4 I think against FSU.

RE: New Polls
While arguments could be made all around, this is definitely a better poll than the coaches poll. It still has Penn State ranked over Iowa. With Iowa winning at Penn State, being undefeated, and having a better resume, there is no excuse there.
Ole Miss is frankly still too high in both though (at least in my opinion). There is no reason to rank them above South Carolina unless you think its victory was a huge fluke or if you think Ole Miss is going to win against Georgia unlike South Carolina.
The one thing I like better in the coaches poll is Wisconsin being ranked. I think they definitely deserve to be there.

Exactly. UC has a lot of respect right now, and if UC is fortunate enough to go undefeated they would have beatena ranked Oregon State team, West Virginia, Rutgers, Pittsburgh, Fresno State, Illinois, Connecticut and a ranked South Florida squad. That would carry a lot of cache.

USF will move up several spots during the bye week due to several potential losses of other top 25 teams.

And I never said we will. My point was that, if we went 12-0 and either Texas and/or Florida lost, and we didn't make the NCG, the fruits of our success would essentially be the same in either conference, leaving me bewildered as to why we're in the BCS to begin with.
Not that I think that's going to happen - realistically I don't see us going 12-0, so my argument is extremely premature, I realize.
