He was asking Huggs if he knew anyone at UC(or with pull at UC) who could help him get 600 tickets. Huggs told him he could beat the system by making the small required donation to UCats and then just purchasing the tickets from the office and that it would not require a favor from anyone at UC.

Mission Accomplished. I hope the hillbillies next to me at least have sleeves on their blue and gold t-shirts.

Also, I think Huggs might have had to buy two tickets for the same reason that the airlines require certain people to buy two seats for one head.

You are kidding...

I hope...

please say yes...

BTW...who is "Huggin's"?

Yes, I am joking. I was just having some fun. I am Mike posted something about it though.

I have no idea who Huggin's is. It must have been the IPA typing that one.

I agree with what Section 200 said above, in part...

UC groups and fans should be given first shot...but the ticket office, in the end, has to move the seats to whoever they can...although the WVU thing grates at me as well...

Maybe they should attach a further premium price and put it with a group package like they did with Huggs' return game last year...I know many who did not go to the basketball game bacause it was not avail. as a single game until a couple weeks before and then at a premium price...

Why not the same for football...WVU travels well and are terribly obnoxious...the only thing missing is Huggs.

RE: WVU Tickets
Single game tickets go on sale Monday, for all UC games. The WVU Alumni group bought 600 tickets, not 6,000. If UC fans want tickets to that game they better buy them on Monday.

What has effectively happened is that UC fans that can only go to a few games or one game are not getting tickets to WV while UC allowed WV to buy 600 additional tickets. Perhaps in the future the ticket office will be smart enough not to sell group tickets to the U of L and WV games to groups not affiliated with UC or the surrounding community. Sales to the alumni and UCATS members should be ahead of group sales for big games. That's just common sense!

UC fans can be any single game tickets they want, and they can starting on Monday. Why are you saying that UC fans can't get tickets for WV?

RE: WVU Tickets
The 600 wouldn't mean WVU would have a single person more than they would otherwise....They are coming in droves whether we want them to or not. Only way to change that is for the big fans who profess to dig UC to get off their friggin' hands and get in the stands. At minimum, spend the 50 bucks to become a UCAT for Christ's sake and pick the couple games you want.

Only reason I was bummed was that I didn't want them in a big clump right in the middle of a UC section. Not just the drunks starting fights or being carted out by paramedics for alchohol poisoning (there were two in 07 that I know of"). They take strange to a new level. We had a family behind us that literally smuggled puppies under their 3 kids shirts so they could feed them during the game. Nice people. But damn. That is just wierd.

Section 200 needs to take ownership of the program instead of making excuses... simple as that. Quit pointing fingers at UC when it is the fan base who deserves to take the blame for allowing 600 tickets in a 35000 seat stadium to be available at this point!

Insult me if that makes you happy, but the principle is very simple. Not all fans can be season ticket holders - some fans only want or can only afford to attend a few games. So I believe that before UC sells tickets to WV groups, they should sell tickets to the alumni and the UCATS members. Currently, group sales are only behind season ticket holders. I think that is crazy. You think OSU allows Michigan fans to buy group tickets before OSU alumni? Does WV let UC buy group tickets in addition to the school allotment before WV fans?

I have no problem with WV fans buying tickets when they are on sale to the general public; I object to allowing essentially allowing scalpers to buy group tickets before the groups that support UC, the alumni and the UCATS members. What if a scalper decided to buy all tickets for the WV game tomorrow - do you think that is a good idea?

Further, blaming the fan base is counter productive and just dumb. Sports are just entertainment and compete with movies, vacations, dining out, saving, etc. Jacking up prices and selling seats to the visiting team before the home team doesn't win you more fans.

Beats me, but I have heard of Ohio State (and vice versa) fans buying Michigan season tickets in order to always have tickets to the greatest rivalry in college football. Ohio State doesn't typically have alot of tickets left laying around anyway.

Bottom line, WVU fans took advantage of the same opportunity UC fans had. Can't blame them for that. Pretty smart if you ask me.

I think it sucks but the fact is that the the size of the UC local alumni and fan base is huge and they need to step up and start buying tickets. I realize not every UC fan can afford season tickets but 35,000 of the local fan base can either afford season tickets or at least to put up $50 for a UCat membership and buy a few games. To be honest the prices are as cheap as you will find in the country. You can join UCats for $50 and get a season ticket package for $200. The people who ***** about the stadium not being full are the people spending $100 at some local wing joint watching each game instead of buying tickets and getting their asses to Clifton.

This is new to the UC football fans but they need to buy the damn tickets and fill the stadium to see a great product.

I hope the hoops fans come back b/c now is the time.

As stated above group tickets have been on sale for 5.5 months.

Mike, thanks for posting. Please warn all UC fans to adequately protect their couches since the 'Eers seem to like to burn them win or lose.

I don't believe I insulted you in any way. If I insult you, you will know.

OSU sells out their season through season tickets... at $60 a ticket, plus a minimum $1500 donation for 2 tickets. The only tickets that aren't season tickets are the reserved tickets for the alumni association members. They get put into a lottery to try to win 2 tickets to a game. Otherwise, people scalp tickets (at $500 or more per ticket for big games like USC and Michigan) or buy them off ebay. Your example is totally false.

Pretty simple... join UCATS and purchase your tickets. There would not be a problem for you to purchase your tickets. As stated by UC Marketing, you could have made a group purchase for the past 5.5 months if you would have liked. As far as a scalper purchasing all available tickets tomorrow, if they think they can make money doing it and have the up front cash available, more power to them. Capitalism at its best, my friend.

Quote:Further, blaming the fan base is counter productive and just dumb. Sports are just entertainment and compete with movies, vacations, dining out, saving, etc. Jacking up prices and selling seats to the visiting team before the home team doesn't win you more fans.

Once again, they didn't do anything of the sort. Everyone could get tickets in groups for 5.5 months. As far as price, UC football ticket prices are still a great value compared to the other teams in the region. My OSU friends are always amazed at the cheap prices for tickets to UC considering the small stadium.

Quit making excuses for not reading the posted rules and on sale dates for ticket sales. No other schools have fan bases who make up so many excuses for not buying tickets or for allowing the visiting fans to get tickets so easily...

I don't know what kinda math you're doing there rath, but according to the group sales info that would have been 20 bucks a ticket. an $18,000 discount at 12K.

Welcome to a thread that is over a month old. Yes, it later came out they went through group sales.

Maybe its just that I'm still on cup of joe #1, but sure as hell seems you have 8 rapid fire posts the same morning you sign up and each one has a bit of a snarky edge to it. Wondering if this is your first time around these parts or if you've been reincarnated?
