not sure, probably back to trying to upgrade pizza a spot or trade it for independence. Just seems like there must be something else brewing, have no idea.

Need to go all out after the Liberty or the Music City.

I dont see why we cant get the ACCs Music City Bowl spot now, it will be BE#3 and ND once vs ACC#6

If not them, has to be the liberty bowl. If we can get one of these 2 we have downgraded our bowl lineup.

-- Too much ACC in our bowl deal with that scenario (Champs, Charlotte, Music City). It may be easier to try to take the ACCs spot and play the SEC

RE: So where does the Big East go from here
If the holiday bowl in San Diego isn't locked up that is a great destination. Of course we don't know if people will travel all the way out there. It pays $2,130,000 so would be the best choice.

the Liberty bowl is hopefully not locked up as it would seem to be a good option. It pays $1,700,000 (the SUN payout was $1,900,000) but is a respected NY eve bowl with a decent payout. If the SEC will stay there, all the better. Since they are closer to BE schools it makes sense, hopefully the BE would be more attractive than CUSA.

Is the Alamo bowl already taken? I think I read it was, if not that would be a great bowl and destination.

The Music City bowl doesn't have a great date I think but pays $$1,600,000 so that would be a good bowl if the others didn't work out. Perhaps you could get the Liberty or Music City to bump up a bit to at least match the SUN

The Independence only pays $1,100,000 but might be ok, especially if they would bump it up in pay. It is played December 28th I think .

Any of these bowls can get the BE #3 at worst, and/or the BE #2 or ND once every four years.

I'm not sure which is better a 4th Florida bowl, Music City/Liberty Bowl or a big bowl out west. Holiday or Las Vegas. A 4th Florida bowl would put the BE in Orlando twice.

It's not geographically easy for BE fans, but the Emerald Bowl in San Francisco is viable landing spot for BE #3 plus ND since that bowl's own ACC tie-in will be downgraded in the same manner as the Music City. A California market will likely put a higher value on having an ND option than the non-Florida South (which generally sees the SEC as the gold standard and everything else as filler).

I've noted this elsewhere, the Holiday is very unlikely to take BE #3 (with or without ND) over the local Pac-10 #3 or Big 12 #4/5. The Alamo is definitely taken since it has upped its payout to get Pac-10 #2 vs. Big 12 #3 (as opposed to the current Big Ten #4/5 vs. Big 12 #4/5). That bowl's actions are the basis of a lot of this shuffling, since that old Big Ten Alamo tie-in is now going to the Gator Bowl, which in turn sent the BE to the Champs Sports Bowl.

Offer the Liberty Bowl ($1.7 million), the Music City Bowl ($1.6 million) choice of Big East #3 with the chance at Notre Dame once every four years. I would also offer the Meineke Car Care Bowl ($1.0 million) a chance at Big East #3 if they raised their payout to around $1.7-1.8 million.

Didn't Marinatto say the conference was negotiating from a "position of strength"? We'll see.

I agree Paul. As far as i'm concerned our lineup looks like this

1 BCS
2 Champs
3 vacant(Liberty, Independence, Music City, Emerald???)
4 Car Care
5 Papa Johns
6/7 St Pete/ International

I would like to see us drop the International. Maybe the NYC Bowl fits in as our #3.

RE: So where does the Big East go from here
If the Music City or Liberty could be legit options, either one would be excellent for our #3.

That said, as I've repeated before, I hope the BE really works hard to get a NYC bowl up and running. If it's successful, and I think it would be, it could be a great option down the road for an upper-tier BE bowl game.

I just realized that the ACC/Sun bowl is Double Wammy for us. Not only do we lose the Sun Bowl but we lose the #5 from the Car Care. That makes that bowl look even worse playing against the ACC #6. 03-banghead

We can steal some of the ACC's luster, especially if we succeed where they can't. Our #3 is better than their #6...

I agree I think the Big East should now go after the Music City Bowl for our #3 BE/Nd

Music City Bowl or the Liberty Bowl for the #3 team. Car Care Bowl should stay in the #4 spot unless they raise the payout to $1.8M. Realistically, I see the BE getting either the Music City Bowl (ACC's spot) or Liberty to replace the CUSA.

The Liberty won't forsake C-USA as long as Memphis is a member.
