FORMER, CURRENT RAMS HAVE STANDOUT WEEKEND PERFORMANCES
[Image: WeekendRecap080309_storyheader.jpg]

A host of former Virginia Commonwealth University student-athletes finished with impressive performances last weekend. Below is a recap detailing the Rams’ weekend in review.

JOHN ROLLINS, PGA TOUR
The former VCU golf standout shot a four-under 68 in the final round on Sunday to secure an eighth-place finish at the Buick Open. Rollins concluded the tournament 14-under (68-71-67-68=274), six strokes back from champion Tiger Woods. The Richmond, Va., native boasted a second place finish in two of his first six tournaments in 2009 and has finished in the top 10 on three occasions this year.

QUANITRA HOLLINGSWORTH, MINNESOTA LYNX
Hollingsworth had her most productive outing as a pro last weekend. On Friday at Detroit, the former Ram scored 12 points and finished with five rebounds in a career-high 23 minutes off the bench. Hollingsworth followed that performance with a career-best 17-point, six rebound performance, against Phoenix on Sunday. The Chesapeake, Va., native is averaging 11.3 minutes, 4.9 points and 3.1 rebounds per game in her rookie season.

SCOTT SIZEMORE, TOLEDO MUD HENS
Sizemore has quickly made a name for himself since earning a promotion to the Detroit Tigers’ Triple-A affiliate, Toldeo Mud Hens, in mid-June. On Saturday, Sizemore hit a walkoff home run against Buffalo to give Toledo its third-straight win. He was a key force in the Mud Hens overcoming a pair of five-run deficits to edge the Bisons, 11-10, as his first homer of the day came as part of a five-run eighth inning. In just 39 games with Toledo, Sizemore is hitting .313 with 12 doubles, five home runs and 17 RBI.

FRANK MOSER, ATP WORLD TOUR
Moser made his first career ATP World Tour doubles final with fellow German Benjamin Becker on Sunday, but the duo fell 6-4, 7-6 to top-seeded American twins Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan at the Los Angeles Tennis Open. The Bryan’s were tough competition as the siblings improved to a circuit-best 47-11 season match record and secured their fifth title of the year.

RAMS IN THE W-LEAGUE PLAYOFFS
The Washington Freedom, led by former Rams Jen Parsons and Sandra Matute, and current standout Molly Allen, advanced to the W-League championship match on penalty kicks with a 3-1 victory against Ottowa on Saturday. Allen played 27 minutes in a reserve role on defense, while Matute played all 120 minutes and Parsons saw 89 minutes of action as a starter. Former Ram Hayley Moorwood scored first in the penalty kick session for Ottowa and Matute tied the score a moment later, but the Freedom connected on their next two attempts to secure the win. Washington advances to the final, which will be televised live on Fox Soccer Channel on Friday at 7:30 p.m., for the second time in the last three seasons.
