Where are the BB members?
It seems like the BB members of the BE don't really care. I rarely see them on here. Where you at?

RE: Where are the BB members?
I stopped trying...I got banned over at the Marquette scout board for putting a link to this board for their fans who wanted to debate Big East topics.

Really? Honestly these schools might have good BB teams, but if the fans don't care what's the point? Memphis, ECU, and UCF at least have rabid fans. Seems like that is more important.

As an MU fan, I am usually on this board. I know there is a Georgetown fan that regularly posts, and ND fans post. I am the first one to admit that DePaul doesn't have any fans. SJU and SH are really struggling so its tough for them to be interested. Don't know about PC and VU.

The BB teams have their fans, but why come on here and read (fairly frequently) about how much the BB schools suck and they should be booted and replaced by teams like ECU and UCF?

Exactly. Besides, the majority of posters here are more football fans than bb fans. We talk way more about football than basketball.
Cheers,

Another Marquette fan here. The MU board is full of MU fans. MU attendance is outstanding for basketball. The fans care. But Omni and gosports1 hit on it. No FB team for football discussions (though I wish it would change) and many here want us gone anyway (even though we were invited).

The old board that was run by CardFanatic that many of us were apart of before coming here had a lot of fans from the Catholic schools...particuarly St Johns and Nova....for some reason those guys never came over when the old board shut down

I don't think most want Marquette gone... but if the conference were to split, Marquette just don't fit the footprint in general. I know UC has played against Marquette a lot over the years, so I would hate to see them leave. The only C-USA team I'd like to see removed in general is Depaul as I don't think they bring anything.

Sure DePaul has some fans...they just don't want to admit it.

It is too bad more BB fans don't come over. Hell, I'm much more of a Hoops fan of late, myself :muttering:

Marquette has a great history. So does DePaul. But neither one really fits an eastern conference setting. The elephant in the room doesn't become a cat by painting stripes on it...

Well said! I myself am more of a hoops fan than football fan, if only due to 'Cuse's success in the former during the past 5-8 years where there was none for football...but it gets quite tiring hearing the endless calls by ECU, UCF and Memphis fans for their team to join and 8 other teams to be kicked out, including several founding schools.

I think it's because of the lack of interest they show, and the enthusiasm that ECU, UCF, and Memphis show.

That's exactly how I feel. I think Marquette has a terrific program, certainly on par with just about anybody in the Big East, or any other "big 6" league. That said, I just think *if* the Big East is going to lose any members in order to expand on the football side, Marquette and DePaul make the most sense historically and geographically. Nothing against them as programs.
Of course, fans on this board wanting Marquette or DePaul gone is rather irrelevant since last time I checked the BE leadership wasn't asking for our opinions.
I think this board is slow (relatively speaking) because there are other boards already serving each individual school with a great deal of traffic, and most folks just visit one board, and aren't particularly interested in interacting with fans of other schools (unless it's to talk smack.)

It seems like its a long distance, but Milwaukee to Providence (eastern and western most BE teams) is closer then many of the other conferences "outposts" such as BC-Miami, Arizona-Washington, Marshall UTEP, even Marquette-USF and of course Hawaii and just about anyone
If that matters

There is nothing Hawai'i can do about its situation. However, The BEast CAN do something about reducing travel times, if they so desire...

The addition of USF seems to indicate that travel time reduction isn't top priority.

USF was added due to the talent in Florida.
Many of us have stated that UCF probably becomes a Big East football member if there is a split because it adds a travel partner for all of the other sports. Travel is a big deal.
