RE: New Verbal
The internet is such a strange place (check our new punter's late night stream-of-thought while contemplating which school to choose last week)
http://my.nba.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5...5800260689
Hello Wilberrrrr... Interesting read. He claims some big time schools have looked into his services. This kid also seems like quite the character, and it's interesting to note what our player's/coach's sales pitches may have been to him ( Did you guys know that our long snapper's going to be in the NFL in two years? More power to Nolan Owen, but he better start downing some serious protein shakes if that's going to be the case). From the looks of him, he looks like a graduate of the Todd Sauebrun school of macho punters. (5'10", 205 in HS w/ a 4.8 40 and a 340lb bench. I take it he won't be settling for pushing guys out of bounds)
This photo is much more Sauerbrun-like...looks like he put on a few lb's since HS
http://www.pc.maricopa.edu/data/GlobalFi...%20Pic.jpg
His punting resume tape on youtube is longer than Reggie Bush's hs clip reel, but at least he seems to have quite the leg. I figure we'll be talking about the kid a bit more on this site in the next couple years; usually don't presume that out of punters. I hope it's mostly positive stuff and nothing to do with the police blotter.
Welcome aboard, kid. Enjoy the beer nuggets.

Phoenix College? Yes, yes they do have a football team - which is where our guy went. Phoenix is actually a pretty decent football program, this guy is a good pick up.

Well our snapper was very highly thought of out of high school, no? Has he ever had a bad snap?

RE: New Verbal
Hell, I'd love for our guy to make it to the NFL. He's certainly been solid at NIU thus far.
However, being that there are only 32 of these guys in the league and our guy is LISTED as 5'10", 210 (last time I checked, roster numbers boost players up, not down), he's got some serious odds against him. The shortest guy at that position in the league is Jon Dorenbos with the Eagles at 6' even, but he's a sturdy 250 lbs.
It's cool that Nolan's favorite long snapper is Dave Binn of the Chargers, a Pro Bowl LS who checks in at 6'3", 223... easily the lightest snapper in the league. BTW, Binn is my favorite LS too...since he's the guy best known for being Pamela Anderson's boy toy (yeah, she's a lot of plastic and is getting old, but he's a LONG SNAPPER!).
Ahem, sorry to get sidetracked... Anyways, best of luck to Nolan Owen, Dream Big (and don't skimp on the protein shakes).
EDIT: It just dawned on me as my head hit the pillow (and as my wife screamed at me for touching her with my cold feet) that they were most likely talking about Eddie Adamski! I just remembered that Adamski was so highly thought of as a long snapper while at Carmel, that Zook and his new regime tried to steal him away from us at the last second. I can easily see Adamski cut back down to around 265 and have a great chance at getting it done as a long snapper at the highest level. He can try to be a center in the NFL, but he just doesn't have the traditional lineman's frame. LS? Believe it. Just like Kill saw a LB in Kube, I wouldn't be surprised if he's already seen this in Eddie...

RE: New Verbal
Adamski is a BEAST
And sorry, Nolan Owen barely even looks like he is on the football team much less a potential NFL LS (had a class with him last semester)

I never realized you had to be a beast to be a long snapper.

Nolan didn't have any bad snaps, but a bad personal foul against Ball State and two or three double clutches where he stuck the point of the ball in the ground and lost 5 yards.

You don't, you just have to hold off a behemoth 300+ nose tackle that's about to run you over and block the punt/fg for a couple seconds.

IF you were allowed to line up over/hit the long snapper I would agree. The fact is they can't line up over him so I'm not sure he has to be the greatest blocker in the world.

I didn't see that, but I do think that he's going to be an amazing weapon for us. Andy D. was bad, and that's being nice.

No football team but they do have the stadium. Well, at least the naming rights to the stadium. I thought he did his kicking online
