Sun Bowl negotiations could be complicated by attempts by the Pac-10 to improve their bowl stock. They have some of the worst match-ups of all.

Isn't there a chance Pappa Johns gets moved to Louisville if/when stadium gets expanded?

That's a clever play on words, but the hybrid basketball league is what brings ESPN and the East Coast media to the table for the BE.

Playing the 10th place SEC team is certainly not what I have in mind. Most of the time, there aren't even 10 bowl-eligible teams in that league.

Bingo...not sure what an agreement is worth if a team will basically never be eligible to play in said bowl game.

04-jawdrop Most do not want to hear it, but the Big East is still perceived as a basketball conference that plays football! We all know what has to happen for us to be considered a "serious football conference". There are eight teams in the conference, who could give a damn about BE football at the BCS level! And the new conference commissioner come from this group, so who where do you think his priorities lay? 03-phew

Things like this, IF it happens, are a good thing. The way the bowls are virtually all aligned with a conference now could make it a problem for traveling fans sometime--maybe they get tired of going to the same cities/bowls. Variety is always a good thing in the non-BCS bowls to keep traveling fans pleased and excited to go to a new venue.

Aaahhh for the good old days, when there were no conference alignments except for conference champions, and when any bowl could sign up any team.

the papajohns is trying to move up one in the SEC pecking order to #8. If that happens, this would be a good bowl for one of the lower ranked BE teams.

Add Memphis and the AutoZone Liberty Bowl comes in to the Big East.

One of the most historic bowls with a SEC tie in and huge corporate support.

Still dont know why Memphis was passed on the first time.

Great basketball...good football...and tons of corporate support/money from FedEx.

Maybe someday soon

RE: Tranghese on Big East Bowl Lineup
I wouldn't doupt SEC is looking at Mienkie bowl for #8
to take the place of Independence bowl.
Papa John's needs dome built & get thier payout up.
Bir gonna have to pay 1.5 million to SEC to get in
rotation with Liberty & Music City bowls.
At #7, BE could hold onto this game,
Bir gonna have to surive on C-USA & Sun Belt untill dome is built

RE: Tranghese on Big East Bowl Lineup
There has been talk that if the Bir dome doesnt happen this bowl game gets moved to Louisville. I dont think the BE would trade Charlotte bowl for Independence Bowl. The Indy bowl is having money problems and Shreveport is not a destination that would attract BE fans. This is another bowl that could be looking for another home very soon.

RE: Tranghese on Big East Bowl Lineup
There was an article about the Texas bowl replacing the Independence bowl. The Big 12 and SEC wants out. Not sure if it will happen. It has had good attendance since the west side have been involved. They have brought pretty good crowds.
