OUBOBCATJOHN Wrote:Cheap shot at the president. Please, the academies don't recruit the players that most schools recruit these days. Army, Navy and Air Force recruit very intelligent young men. They each run triple option type offenses that give them some chance vs the superior athletes on the other side of the ball. These teams were dominate in the early half of last century, but its a different era. If your gonna blast Army's performance in football atleast give them both credit for winning in Iraq and Afganistan....Army kicking the **** out of Saddam Hussein State and Taliban Tech.......next up University of Iran or Russia A&M in the Georgia Dome.....Except for a triple overtime loss at Vietnam, Army unbeaten since 1776 on the real battle field.

The US Army has never lost a war. Congress cut off funding for the Vietnam War and we withdrew. The North Vietnamese beat the crap out of the South Vietnamese as soon as we left. The kids at the service academies also need to maintain military height weight standards. You won't see any 300+ lb players at the academies.

DFW HOYA, Navy is a different animal. Navy and Air Force are the services to choose during time of combat in the modern era. You have a much better chance of coming home alive. In the Army, all it takes to get you killed is one incompetent officer in the wrong place at the wrong time.

By the way folks, any shot at this President is well deserved. This is a democracy, and freedom of speech is our primary freedom. After all, it is the FIRST amendment to our Constitution.

I'm glad so many of you believe in freedom of speech (except when it conflicts with your preconceptions)... 03-banghead

Screw BU$H, his cabinet, his backers, and the rest of the morons who'd prefer to keep dissent quiet so BU$H's feelings don't get hurt. It must be unpatriotic to question the government these days. However, I took an oath long ago to protect this nation from all enemies foreign and domestic. Frankly, the domestic enemies scare me far more than the foreign ones...

I served in the Army, and can talk all the sh!t about Army I want. Have you served, OUBOBCATJOHN? Or are you just spouting the propaganda of the day. I know how things work. I doubt very seriously that you do. Don't they teach the people at Ohio U. how to disseminate the news any longer. I thought they had an excellent journalism program there. I guess it's gone downhill since my father graduated in the 1950s.

For your information, Saddam was an American ally until we decided we didn't need him any longer. Before the Iraqi Army invaded Kuwait, prior to Desert Storm, he asked the U.S. if there would be any repercussions if he invaded Kuwait. After all, he was supposed to be our ally. The adminstration of G.H.W. BU$H said no problemo, however Saudi Arabia did have a problem with the invasion of Kuwait, and the BU$H family is heavily involved financially with the Saudi royal family, who happen to be the parents of Osama bin Laden.

Once the Saudis protested, the U.S. went to war with Iraq, and decimated the Iraqi Army. Then the U.S. tried to assinate Hussein 3 different times... and missed all 3 times. Then Saddam tried to assassinate the elder BU$H (another miss... must be lousy assassins these days... all I needed was a clear shot within 2Km of the target), and when this BU$H got into office, he was looking for a pretext to go after Saddam. He invented it with rumors of WMDs in Iraq, which we gave them, and knew all were used during Iraq's war with Iran, and around the time of Desert Storm.

The yellow cake uranium from the Sudan was another BU$H lie that the American people are too stupid to question or challenge. There was no yellow cake, or WMDs, and this has been verified by multiple independent sources. We went to war, supposedly to capture or kill Osama bin Laden. But when the opportunity came to attack Iraq, we took it and forgot all about bin Laden. He was in Afghanistan and Pakistan, not Iraq.

We tried to impeach Bill Clinton for lying about a blow job, but BU$H lies about the reason we went to war and nobody initiates impeachment proceeding against him. I wonder why?

OUBOBCATJOHN, grow up, get a life, and learn the ways of the world before you spout off the BS our government puts out to brainwash the public into thinking they actually have our best interests at heart. They don't. The only interests they serve are their own.

KNIGHTLIGHT, think on it. On 2nd thought, never mind. It would be useless to try to get through the collapsed matter surrounding your brain... 03-banghead

The fact that UConn played that badly and still dominated doesn't bode well for Temple. Especially since the Connecticut players had to listen to people whining about how Temple got robbed.

Agreed, Temple should be solid, and might contend for a MAC title and a bowl slot. If Temple got their facilities up to speed (I don't know what's going on on that front, templefootballfan can probably explain it to us better) and the attendance improved more (it was solid last year) Temple would be the perfect #9, football-only for the Big East. And I kind of wonder if that's what the Big East is waiting around for.

RE: Has Temple improved this much?
Temple's biggest problem is everyone else's in The BEast, except for USF and possibly Rutgers. It's hard to keep your coach when the bigger schools go through coaches like water, and can pay more money.

They'll be hard pressed to keep up their progress if Golden leaves... 07-coffee3

Hate to say I told you so but I told you so.
But the season is young but it's a big win for Golden 35-7. Sure beats losing. The key is if Temple runs off a decent start, what kind of fan support will they have. They play in that pro stadium and I bet they can sell in out in Philly.

Golden has been on the right track but Temple's biggest problem is Syracuse. The Cuse is going to looking for a new coach.

It's early but I have to admit, you might be right frogman. Al Golden is a hell of a coach. Scooping up Temple as a football-only, assuming their program continues to improve, would allow Temple to have a better chance of keeping Golden and re-add a huge market.

If you think Bush was the worst President in the history of the country you weren't alive or old enough to remember the Carter Administration. Jimmy Carter had a terrible foreign policy and the economy was the worst in the 1900s except for the Great Depression. he term Stagflation was coined in the 70. The economy was stagnant and inflation was rampant.

Carter wasnt nearly as bad as people claim. He was in many ways ahead of his time. Had Reagan not taken the solar panels off of the whitehouse and shut down all of Carters plans for alternative energy we probly wouldnt have been in this energy crisis we are entering right now.

He wasnt a good president, but he did have at least 1 good idea, which puts him ahead of the idiot in cheif.
