I think alot of non state schools will have a tougher road in fla. USF is now BCS.. and UCF is seen as a very viable option.. and Fau is on the rise.. with the big 3 getting basically the pick of the litter right off the top.. and USF and UCF both getting recruits that would have skipped them 2 or 3 years ago.. outsiders are a bit further down the pecking order.
I don't want to jack this into an expansion thread, but that's the main reason I oppose UCF if expansion were to happen. If UCF were ever to rise to power and join the BIG FOUR 03-wink there'd be precious few recruits remaining for the BE teams who recruit the state (WVU, UL, RU).

We have only a few FLA players, so the effect wouldn't be as great on us. It's just some of the other schools' plight that would concern me.

Say WHAT?

235 FLA HS kids signed with OUT-OF-STATE TEAMS (including those from the Big East) last year.

Even if UCF jumps up to Div I-A...UCF will still recruit out-of-state areas where the Knights have strong recruiting ties (namely Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia and New York), so UCF's share of in-state and out-of-state recruits probably won't be changing much in the future.

As FLA's population continues to grow...more and more kids each and every year will sign with out-of-state teams...regardless what conference UCF will be a member of.

I like Tulsa's coach.....they should be pretty good this year.

June Jones is a horse's rear end but the man could put a winning program together pretty quickly at a place like Cuse. Something to think about.

UCF recruits Georgia almost as much as Florida. We have the largest recruiting budget in the C-USA so we will go anywhere to find recruits.

All those California schools and there still aren't enough scholarships, same with Texas, and Ohio. It would actually help the Big East becasue the recruits would be guaranteed to play in FL once a year. The teams that would get hurt would be in the Big Ten where they never play in the state except for bowl games. That is like saying because the ACC brought in Miami, the other schools have less of a chance to get FL players.

Maybe… but there’s got to be a dropoff somewhere from the elite level, and that number of players won’t change.

What?

As FLA continues to put out more and more and more HS Football Players each and every year...the LARGER the number of elite players will continue to grow as well.

It wasn't that many years ago that FL only put out about 225 Div I-A Football Players TOTAL (signed with in-state/out-of-state teams).

Then a few years ago...it was up to 300 or so.

Now...that number is up to 350 and continue to RISE almost each and every year.

Heck...235 FL kids signed with OUT-OF-STATE teams alone in Feb 2008!

Plus...the number of "elite" players (say Top 250) also continues to rise for those from FLA (as compared to 7-10 years ago).

I don't think you realize what is going in FLA (HS Football, Population GROWTH, Out-of-state recruiting target areas for teams like FSU, UF, UCF, etc..., plus the HUGE impact from non-FLA schools recruiting the state)...as if you did...you wouldn't be making some of this baseless statements.

Holy moly. A Buffalo Bulls fan? 04-jawdrop
There are one or 2 floatin'round. I remember dating a girl who went there, and was a big fan. But this was 35 years ago, and they called it Buff State then.

Actually they still call it Buff State. You're thinking of Buffalo State College which is located on Elmwood Avenue in Buffalo and I believe the football team the BE plays is from the University at Buffalo also located in the same city.

Few years back I spent some time in Buffalo. Coming off the Niagra is a cold wind that drops tons of snow on the city. It was like living in Alaska. I wonder how some of these Florida FB teams would perform in an outdoor stadium in Buffalo.

Maybe Robinson can get a job at Buff State.
