PayPal email scam
I just received this email, and it is very official looking. However,Something just didn't seem right, so I googled "PayPal email scam" and found out it was a scam. You can check this site : http://www.fightidentitytheft.com/paypal_scam.html It comes in HTML format, which I cannot duplicate here, but watch out for anything with wording like this:
PayPal is constantly working to ensure security by regularly screening the accounts in our system. We recently reviewed your account, and we need more information to help us provide you with secure service. Until we can collect this information, your access to sensitive account features will be limited. We would like to restore your access as soon as possible, and we apologize for the inconvenience.
Why is my account access limited?
Your account access has been limited for the following reason(s):
We have reason to believe that your account was accessed by a third party. Because protecting the security of your account is our primary concern, we have limited access to sensitive PayPal account features. We understand that this may be an inconvenience but please understand that this temporary limitation is for your protection.
To remove the limitation click here.

PayPal Security Departament

RE: PayPal email scam
I have also received a couple of similar emails in the past year or so saying that my paypal account might have been accessed by a third party, and asking me to submit some information about it. Since I still live in the stone age and do not even have a paypal account, I didn't fall for it, but everyone should be careful because this is obviously going around.

RE: PayPal email scam
This is absolutely true and they can make those emails look really really convincing to a novice. These kinds of emails also may look like they're coming from your bank. I got one from Washington Mutual and realized right away that it's a phishing scam because I don't have an account with WaMu. Same with the websites they send you to. It can look like the original site in many ways. Just use your head. Don't fall for anything that looks even remotely fishy (or phishy). ("phishing" is an attempt to get private information out of you, like your password, ss#, etc.)

By the way, anytime you have a question about something that you hear or get in email, go to http://snopes.com and you can find out if something is true or scam or urban legend or whatever.

RE: PayPal email scam
I get these "notices" from PayPal about once a week along with "tool enlargement drugs" and letters from lost relatives in England advising me of "lottery winnings". I delete them all!

RE: PayPal email scam
Never login to anything from a link in an unsolicited email. Every once and awhile I will go to some of those links to login. Imagine their surprise when they read what my username and password are.

Really? I am very popular in Africa (particularly Nigeria). They are always wanting me to help them with finances and they are going to pay me like 50% of the take for my troubles.
I know if I wasn't so damn lazy I would be a multi-millionaire. lol
