Turner Gill has been doing a great job with Buffalo. I bet they'll give Pitt some trouble.

Problems like this are going to keep arising as long as we only have 7 conference games.

I agree...They haven't played a down yet and Pitt is already in trouble. Again I say it isn't the Panthers fault. It's the lack of leadership from our conference that puts all of our programs in the same position.

As long as Wanny is in charge, the Panthers will always come up short against somebody they shouldn't lose to.

Hold on there, Sparky. I'm no fan of UB flushing money into bottom-of-I-A football, but they did go 5-7 last year and are bringing back 18 starters. And Pitt shouldn't overlook MAC teams: Linky

“Sparky” thinks you have an excellent point. But, if Gill’s doing that good, he’ll certainly move on before this four year series ends, right?

Jose_Jalapeno_on_a_Stick Wrote:To me, this is a very interesting thread, as Brian Kelly has stated a desire to move away from playing Miami-OH home-and-home. A lot of UC posters support the sentiment, but I don’t see it happening, particularly because these Pitt and USF developments.

The key is five games to fill. Some complain the Miami is still on the schedule, but until better games come along… well, it IS only an hour trip to Oxford, so I don’t really see the series as an albatross. I guess that's Pitt's thinking - the distance.

But, I agree that UB is, in many cases, a lower quality opponent that a I-AA team. Seems like a much better decision to get an upper half I-AA team at home.

Why not play Miami? Why does this guy want to end tradition, even when they are helping the schedule?

Esayem, the controversy more about bringing the game to Cincy every year than ending the series. Sorry I wasn't more specific.

And your meaning is what exactly? It doesn't change the essential truth of my statement. What was Pitt's record last year? One game does not a season make.

Strike two.

That game sent WVFU from the BCS Championship Game to the Nobody-Remembers-What-Game-Or-Who-They-Played Bowl.

Maybe. But I think the AD (Warde Manuel) deserves a lot of credit as well. The last AD signed 2-for-1's with Rutgers when they sucked and signed Colgate just to get a home game while this one gets 2-for-2's with Pitt and UConn and 1-for-1's with UCF and Baylor. He also got Army at home this year to replace Colgate while Syracuse was stuck with having to get an FCS team to fill the schedule.

If Gill leaves, I think Manuel will be able to get a good replacement. He used to be an assistant AD at Michigan so he knows a ton of people. Ron English immediately comes to mind. He deserves a chance to be a head coach.

END the Miami "rivalry"......the game in Oxford is lame, nobody comes anymore and we are passing/have passed MiaOH up........Minimally, if we keep the series it should be played in Cincy only. If they don't like that, drop it. We are not getting anywhere by playing them each year.

We have a great rivalry IN conference with UofL....that's good enough.

And Pitt played in what bowl game? WVU still went to a BCS bowl game and dominated their opponent. Who did Pitt play after the WVU game?

Nobody, which isn't any different than Buffalo.
