You could get shot in the stadium in Miami. The parking lot simply gets more publicity.

Miami has never been that strong. They were one of the first "made for television" football programs.

LMAO, and isn't Miami a smaller school enrollment wise? USF, UCF undergrad enrollment is closer to Florida and Florida St.?

Yep. Miami is an expensive, tiny little private school in the heart of the ghetto. I thought private schools were supposed to attract intellectuals - as well as the rich degenerates. I can't imagine any of those kind of people paying high prices to live in a shooting gallery. The thought that people would actually pay such exhorbitant rates to go there simply boggles the mind.

UCF is the 6th largest school in the country at 47,000 students. I think South Florida is pretty close in the 45,000+ range. Florida is around the 50,000 mark.

If you can't tell the Florida schools are very big.

You look at the basketball credentials and the market size and this is the minimum that BCS conferences will consider. If you can't get 30,000 you have no business in a BCS conference. UC had perfect geography since Louisville, Pitt and West Virginia are in the same region.

Cincinnati would have averaged more if Nippert held more than 35,000. Some of their sellouts would have probably drawn 40-50K if the stadium could have held it.

All of this bodes well for UCF and USF. Where is Miami playing home football games? Dolphins Stadium?

Good observation BullsFan - in fact the attendance for the Marshall game was probably higher than 35,000 with the nice turnout by Marshall fans and a huge walk-up crowd by the students and locals. The aisles were full as well as the seats. Crowd control was improved for the remaining games due to the problems experienced during that game.

The Miami campus is in Coral Gables, which is nice. The stadium is in a bad area to say the least though.

RE: Football attendance reports
Orange Bowl Stadium is no more (city tore it down this winter).

The Canes have moved to Joe Robbie Stadium (Dolphins Stadium) near the Dade/Broward County line and right next to Calder Race Track.

Canes will have a VERY tough time selling out that 76,000 seat stadium but the Canes will earn about $1 Million plus more per season...as they will get higher revenue from club seats and sky boxes...which were virtually non-existent in the old Orange Bowl.

But yes...Univ of Miami Students are upset (and other Miami locals) since the Canes will now play much further away toward Ft Lauderdale...but those that live in Ft Lauderdale...are happier that the Canes are moving closer...so it might be a wash in the end.

RE: Football attendance reports
The reality is that UM is NOt a large school and the number of students attending game was around 5k. The majority of UM's fans are locals that have adopted the team.
The campus is in Coral Gables and very nice. It is expensive but UM has done apretty good job with offering scholarships and most students are now from the Miami area as opposed to the 70s and early 80s that where from NE.
If you have not heard there has been a reduction in funding for education in our state and it has become even more difficult for kids graduating from HS to attend state schools. Most state schools such as USF have cut down on the number of incomming freshmen admitted

There's a reduction in funding for schools across the nation. The politicians are running short of graft.
