We will have one go-to guy next season, and his name is Tyreke Evans, he will average 20+ points a game. Kemp, Anderson, Mack, Robinson, Witherspoon and Dozier will score some. The trick will be getting Taggart good enough on the defensive end and rebounding to keep him on the floor, he could be our second leading scorer.
Of course, any of these recruits could turn in to superstars, maybe Ebanks, Witherspoon, Simpkins, Garcia or Harris can average double figures, who knows?
But with Anderson, Kemp, Mack, Robinson, Taggart and Dozier holding down the fort (they would win CUSA and be sweet 16), Evans scoring 20-30 and maybe an under 300 Niles out there slapping folks around, if any of these other highly touted recruits can sit any of these guys down we will most definitely be a top 5 program and in the hunt in '09.
Ya'll watch out for Evans, he will be the most potent scorer we have ever seen, yes, CDR, Hardaway, Finch and Lee, well maybe not Lee, included. And I don't mean scoring to the detrement of the team like Wagner was, I mean scoring like," you need some more points, there, you got em."
Rose drove the ball and fired up a lot of wild shots in the lane early in the season. By the end of the year he was under complete control and knew exactly what to do. Evans is going to have a lot of growing pains himself. He is going to miss teammates, and make bad choices early on. I would expect by the latter 1/3 of the season that he will be completely in touch with what he is capable of and how he needs to play at this level.

Yeah... I imagine that Evans' first bad game will be worse than Rose's first bad game. At that point, the Miserables will be howling! "Why did we go after this kid, blah, blah, blah." We're going to have a good year in 2008-09.

Simpkins reminds me of Kenyon Martin more than anyone...even shoots the jumper with the same kind of form...

I think Simpkins is a fine signee but I think he'll have less of an impact next season than a few here have suggested. My thought is his contribution will not be terribly significant his freshman year (along the lines of Jeff Robinson last season or Joey his freshman year) but could very well be significant in subsequent years.
Niles will have to step it up (drop 40 lbs) or we could be looking at a mere 25 win season.

I think much will depend on how Simpkins acclimates to the weight room and the system...he is a prep school guy so he is a little older than Robinson was...we were spoiled by the Laurinburg guys, but they were a year older and more ready to contribute right away than regular freshman are...

Let me be more specific. Playing against those other high school kids his game looks like Dorsey's with an outside shot. I don't expect him to make the jump from high school to Memphis and play like a 25 year old Dorsey did this year. But, he potentially is our future Dorsey type player, once he adapts to the college game.
