The fact that kids get tied up in credit cards to me is sickening. I have to tell you. My Mom and Dad instilled that into me at an early age. The evils of plastic. You do not.... I repeat do not carry a balance on a credit card. I didn't own a credit card until a year after my first job. I have never carried a balance. It would be like desecrating my father's grave. I'm serious about that too. My dad hated plastic.

And just think...We didnt learn that in govt. school...My dad was from the same background...He was a recovery officer at what is now BB&T...He used to show me just how stupid people are with credit....Ive been married 24 years and we have 1 card that has a $1000 limit...We have never paid a dime of intrest.

Everyone wants to play the market and gamble but.......If you live by a budget and invest small amounts with disipline over a long period of time...gambling is not necessary....No risk...big payoff.

Your tax bracket. You have to own a stock for a year for the 15% cap gains. I'm at 22% I think.

Bingo. The only things I own in the market that I control is ADRE, DBS, and BAC. The rest are in my comanies stock plan or in retirement accounts.

Don't buy Deere for a few days. Jim Cramer had the CEO on today and is bound to go higher. Wait a week however. Although he mentions Deere enough that it won't spike like smaller stocks that he gives a "buy buy buy."

not to sound ignorant, but why would you buy Deere? It's gone up like 30% over the past year. isn't it a little high?

cant' remember the name of the one I heard of, I have a buddy who works for Lowe's corporate that was telling me about them. I think there are alot of different companies that are doing different things with the LED lights.

the FDA approved the other day for a company an LED technology that supposedly reduces wrinkles. If that works, with our culture and aging baby boomers the sky is the limit.

its worth doing some research into.

It is a perfect stock to capitalize on agriculture and ethanol. Both of which are big bull markets right now, and possibly for the longterm. They blew away the numbers last quarter while other companies simply aren't. One in Three of their pieces of equipment made go overseas so they are not as concerned with a slowdown in the US economy as other American companies. Sounds like it could go up another 30% easily.

RE: The ONLY way to make it in this world..............
In today's market, there are two schools of thought. You can make a lot of money if you sit in front of your computer, research, look at the gossip and trade like mad. You can also lose a lot of money. The other is to look for companies that have a history of strength and growth in growing industries and allow them to grow while paying you dividends over the long term. You don't need to sit in front of the computer and you can sleep at night. Both have their plusses. I remember my investments professor at SMU had two remarks that I'll never forget. "Stockbrokers are just used car salesmen who wear wool suits instead of polyesther." The second was that if you called ten brokers and asked them how is "insert name of pennystock here" doing. And if you had another friend call each of them five minutes later and ask the same thing, you would see that stock go up slightly before it fell back down to earth. That is what the internet does today. Except that the blip is faster and larger and it goes back down to earth just as fast and just as large.
