RE: 2008 Big East-SE Challenge Lineup Announced
IF you have UK-UC and UL-UT you better dome Paul Brown Stradium because 67,000 seats would not be nearly enough!

Cincinnati is going to be loaded next year so I wouldn't label us a "lesser" team. Louisville was a preseason Big East title favorite and Marquette has been in the Top 25 most of the year, so I don't know where you get the idea that we're "lesser" teams. Especially since Cincinnati and Louisville arguably have stronger tradition then Syracuse and UConn.
Might be mistaken about this, but I don't think he was saying that Louisville, Cincinnati, and Marquette were "lesser" programs, rather I think he was trying to say that fans of the Big East in the major metropolitan areas of the northeast like NYC, Philly, and Washington DC, might have been better served by having Syracuse or Connecticut this year and putting either Louisville or Cincinnati in the rotation for the following year.
Cheers,
Neil
Thanks, Neil...that's exactly what I meant. I certainly think Marquette, Louisville and Cincinnati will represent the conference well and have a good shot at winning...I just meant that they should throw an east-coast team in there.
I also have nothing against the games being in Cincinnati, as I think that is a great place for some basketball to be played. I would never expect this series to be in Syracuse or Storrs, rather, NYC or Hartford.
I just am perplexed as to why they wouldn't throw in an east coast team.

Louisville, UC, and USF may be a bit more in the national conscience as members of the Big East than many traditional members. TV exposure from football has that added benefit. So to a large portion of the TV audience, there's no ambiguity in the choices.

Haha, no one's understanding my point that people in New York or Philly or DC aren't going to care as much with these four teams. It's nothing against those teams.

I wonder though if that might have more to do with the SEC opponents rather than the BE teams chosen to play. At least in the doubleheader in Cincy, both UC & UL are simply more appealing than the Miss. teams. UC-UK & UL-UT would have had much more national appeal. I agree, UK & FL are being saved for possibly a NYC-area visit against Uconn and the Cuse the season after. This SEC-BE invitational is great, it complements the ACC-B10 and the new B12-Pac-10 series, further demonstrating that the BE is one of the major conferences. Like it or not, bball does spill over into fball, or is that the other way around? No matter, it's all good.

All in all the Big East just drop the SEC after this intial challenge and try to get the Original "ACC-Big East" going again. I'm alittle selfish beacuse this will be the only way of getting Maryland,Duke, and UNC in the Carrier Dome to play the Cuse. Those teams have the fanbases to travel to CNY I seen tons of them in the East regionals at the dome

Yeah, ACC-BE would be the better match-up. Let the SEC play the B-10, they're both at about the same level at this juncture.
